No!
I hate console controllers.
I hate console games even more (dumbed-down pieces of ****).

bookworm_020 10-09-08 05:39 PM

No, I don't have a consol to play it on!

kenijaru 10-09-08 05:42 PM

nope... i don't think so.

but... mimicking the use of the Periscope with the wiimote and nunchuck (or using it to enter the data into the TDC sounds really fun) :D

Simulation wise or on the PS in general?

Sim = Have only managed to get SH3/GWX & IL2 1946 running through linux/wine. Works well but needs 'tweaking' to run smoothly. That's not performance wise but rather file compatibility. The Cell certainly makes up for the lack of RAM.;)

PS3 generally = WipeoutHD, Little Big Planet, Socom Confrontation, Uncharted, Burnout Paradise, GT5 Pro, Dirt, Motorstorm, MGS4 blah blah, most PSN available games....<it's an addiction you know>...

....Oh and a few others I can't tell you about due to NDA agreements.:rotfl:

Not a bad idea, after all it would be nice to buy a game and know youll be able to run it!

As for the severe button shortage on consoles, well the flightsim IL2:sturmovik is coming to consoles next year so if you can squeeze a flightsim onto a joypad then anything is possible.

I popped Linux onto my 40 gig HDD for a quick spin, but I get sick of always swapping the HDD to use PS3 software. I'd use my 120 Gig, or even buy a bigger one, but the PS3's formatting utility sucks, and will only partition a 90% PS3 + 10% Linux , or 10% PS3 + 90% Linux combo. 50% - 50% would be better.

danlisa 10-10-08 05:32 AM

It's 10 GB for an additional OS. i.e Linux, which is more than enough for the OS + Programs, anything additional can run from USB.

But I agree, it would be better to choose your partition size, although, once in Linux you can then partition more space. ;)

The standard PS3 partitioning is 10% of HDD size for PS OS and then you can allow 10 GB for the additional OS.

No.!! as a matter of fact I think consoles should be outlawed!! all they are, are cheap non upgradeable, computers (that are expensive) that have low - no on board memory, and a grpahics system that will never, ever, no matter what ever be able to keep up with a PC.

Honestly, not trying to be ignorant, but can someone would be kind enough explaining to me what is ,and if there is any really groundbreaking benefit of using(investing into) consoles instead of PC for gaming or anything?Specially for type of game like SH?

I have yet to find one, other then pro-console saying that is "cheaper" ,which is just an superficial illusion in long run.And i don't care about "being able to watch movies" on it either. You got cheap, affordable players/recorders for that.

Reason for me asking is that there is almost no forum that doesn't have debate like this.

thank you in advance

It's beneficial if you're 10.
- You can't break it (except maybe by hitting your brother over the head with it)
- Lower cost than a PC = happier parents
- Game developers know you're 10 and dumb-down the games accordingly

Bit of a digression here... but one thing that gets me about consoles is that the one thing that they should do well (driving games) they do awfully, thanks to the aforementioned dumbing-down. A console would be perfect for making the ultimate driving simulation, but unfortunately the market demands driving games that allow 10 year olds to bounce their cars off each other in-game and controllers that they can bounce off each other in-RL.
Maybe when I'm old and grey, and the console generation has grown up, maybe then...

I find Consols boreing, all you can do with them is play games. Cant do papers if you need to, surf the web, type, and the consol controlers lack the buttons for a good simulator.;)
