I agree. i have have to have my nephew the computer whiz teach me how to post articles. I screw it up most of the time. I have wanted to post articles done by scientist who have proposed global warming is a natural deal. Most of these are on Savages web site. Savage himself is highly educated, even though he is eccentric the dude is right on most of the time. Subman if you want a funny polital satire book. You have to get the "Political Zoo". It will keep you in stiches...

on the Qu'ran bit, if obama was born a muslim, and is now a catholic, doesnt that make him an apostate, and as such a criminal in the eyes of oh, millions of muslims??

I expect him to swear on the bible if he wins, but i hope for your sakes he doesnt..

It doesn't make him an apostate, can't remember where I read it, I'll dig it up later. There's a much-criticised NYT op-ed that makes the opposite claim, mind.

That'd be nice if you could dig it up mate, I thought i had islam pretty much as well understood as i could, but if he's not an apostate for changing religions i'd love to read about it! genuine, not sarcastic, in case that got lost in the interwebs..:D

Did Luttwak cross the line from fair argument to falsehood? Did Times editors fail to adequately check his facts before publishing his article? Did The Times owe readers a contrasting point of view?

I interviewed five Islamic scholars, at five American universities, recommended by a variety of sources as experts in the field. All of them said that Luttwak’s interpretation of Islamic law was wrong.

baggygreen 09-03-08 05:35 PM

Interesting reads, thanks!

I do have to wonder though, would we be getting different responses if the scholars that he interviewed were from different parts of the world, ie ones that weren't seemingly well adjusted to the western way of life..

fun to ponder:smug: :yep:
