Great post, Steve. Like you and others, once I knew about the mods here I couldn't start the game proper until I was happy that everything was the way I wanted. For example, we all knew that 2.1 was going to be the final release of GWX, and I decided I would wait for it to be released (even in the event of finishing my own mods ahead of it) before starting my "real" campaign. I also spent ages messing with the SH3C settings, because I didn't want to be changing any of those mid-campaign either. So, yeah, you're definitely not alone in that.

I still remember the first time. I had loaded several mods and told myself "This is it!" I have all the good mods! Now it's time to sail.

Then Beery released RUB.:damn: Then Harbor Traffic came along. Then the Kiel Canal mod.

All the modders are moving to SH4? I hope so - I might finally get to play SH3!

I wish I was such a perfectionist or trusted my computer to take on more mods than simple GWX 2.1

Go sink 'em Steve! And congrats on the sustained non-homelesness. I've been there , too. ;)

h.sie - any chance i could grab that compromosed LRT mod from you? thats exactly what ive been looking for! will it run OK over GWX2.1 and OLC2?

thanks!

hi WeeBubba: of course you can have it! but i have not made an JSGME-ready mod, because the file basic.cfg looks different for every player and overwriting it would overwrite parts of your other mods. so, instead of that, i have made an DO-IT-YOURSELF manual, so that everyone can make his mod, based upon his individual mod configuration and basic.cfg. it's easy. the manual is in german, but i will translate it into english, because i am thinking about posting it here, but only if there is some interest.

there is definetely interest from me. I like the LRT mod but I too found that I wanted something a little more balanced. I think you should do the job and post it up here if you've got time. I reckon there'll be a fair amount of interest.

p.s. would be great if you could check my mod list earlier in this post and let me know if there will be any incompatbilities you think. thanks

Thats a great set up. Going to have to try the Das Boot sound mod & thanks for reminding me of the Das Boot clothes.

I've never finished one. I'm always restarting because I wanted to try something else out. Maybe this time...but probably not.:88)

That is familar--I don't think I have ever gone past early 1942 in game so have no idea what the later years are like. I always read threads talking about how hard this game can be but I just don't see how:roll: .................of course if I ever got to a point in the game where I was dealing with more then early war sensors my tune could be different:D

National service usually means draft. Many european nations still have compulsory military service...

Anti - go recon mate, best fun to be had!

h.sie 09-01-08 01:58 AM

@WeeBubba: I have an idea: YOU send me your Basic.cfg and Zones.cfg AFTER having installed all your JSGME mods and I will build an JSGME-ready LLRT-mod (Little Longer Repair Times) from that for your individual mod configuration. .....and then we test that mod (the balance between flooding and repair times) and after testing it is time for an post and to share it with others. in the meantime i translate my german readme into english language........

i dont think there are any compatibility problems, because i have GWX 2.1 (+AOTD+Bugfix)+OLCE2 (only environment, not the GUI) too.

Drafted, as you said, we still have mandatory military service here.
As for going recond, its not my choise to be made tbh, thats decided by my superiors after the first 12 weeks, which is the basic soldiering course, then comes the basic soldier specialty course.

Rubini's Lifeboats mod with help from Privateer (and probably some others I've forgotten). Get it here:
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=134988

The 'Rowers' part is newer. I'm sure Jim has a link in his sig; after all he took the best screenshots.

If he doesn't have them in his link I'll put them up on mine.
