On the other hand I haven't read about any of those guys becoming crusaders for peace. |
Well it was the ballistic missile technology that fueled the early space race between the US and the Soviet Union.
Up until Saturn all our boosters were also military rockets. Vanguard was an oddity since it was built by the NRL. If you can put something in to orbit you can bring something down from orbit or sub orbit right where you want it to land. :yep: |

The boundary between the Earth's atmosphere and "space" is, by agreement, defined by the Karman Line which is at 100KM or 62.1 miles. This definition is the one recognized by the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI), which is an international standard setting and record-keeping body for aeronautics and astronautics. The V2 rocket operated at an altitude of 83 to 93 KM or 52 to 60 miles http://www.v2rocket.com/start/makeup/design.html So Werner baby was close but no schnitzel. :nope: |
Trivia question.
Given the definition that space "starts" at 100 km What was the first rocket to go higher than 100 km? :know: |
so people didn't like that Iran send a sat to space?
