I'm in the research stages on my 2nd book, which will be about the ship yards in Delaware that produced Destroyer Escorts in WWII, a long forgotten part of my home state's history. Meeting with some of the surviving employees of the yards will hopefully provide the feeling of "permission" to tell the tale of men that served when I didn't.

Random, but made me think of it...;)

Not all forgotten! I notice the Uboat watch towers along the beach in Rehobeth are still standing tall. Just saw them two weeks ago when I was vacationing in Ocean City. I'm surprised these towers are still standing.

Yep! There is some fascinating history down there. When the Germans surrendered, a U-boat captain drove his boat right up to Cape May beach and surrendered. There are amazing pictures online somewhere of the surrendered crew, I'll try to dig them up....

And yes, the watch towers still stand strong. Its actually a popular surf spots for my friends and I, known to us as "Towers". :D

I'll shoot you a copy of the Dewey book when I slap a cover on it.

Enigma, thanks for clarifying. The new one has history and ships - two of my favorite things - so I'll almost certainly be a customer.
