I agree. It seems as if they always try and hit you on their decent. I've been thinking maybe the AI directs them towards us to attack (DUH!) and even when their destroyed the AI continues to direct them to strafe the boat resulting in collisions.

And, yes it IS modeled to do damage, you just got lucky as steamwake stated.

That's weird stuff, I always let my crew take out planes and not 1 has ever hit me. Ive got 10 planes shot down on my patrol right now!

As the song says "Your time will come".

The trick seems to be to 'kill' the plane as it is leaving. A kill on an approaching aircraft greatly increases the chance of a collision.

Hmmm I was wondering ,To those submariners who had enemy planes smash into your subs after shooting them down I have one question:where you turning your subs?

i happen to be fairly good at shooting down planes so for a single contact im in no hurry to dive, actually i find often you dont always get enough warning to submerge safely and get more damage from not fighting it out. if i miss on the first pass i crash dive and will be under before he can circle back for another pass.

anyway as for my case i was at full speed and it was pretty much a square on broadside from the right side and at about a 45 degree down angle

Oh.... just great !

Yall jinxed me.

Sailing out of Pearl headed for java there was a radar contact. So I decided to put it to the test.

Man the AA gun fire at will, well they did. Good shot ! Uth oh... next thing I know theres an AM6 barreling down right at me WAMMO right into the hull.

Crap ! damage report ! Hull damage 20 and the kicker ! BOTH scopes damaged beyond repair.

Well nothing to do but turn around and head home :damn:

You could always use your UZO and fire from the surface at night.

Hey don't feel bad, I just got sunk off the carolina coast because I ran aground avoiding aircraft.

Oops  :rotfl:

I did try using the 'uzo' but problem is average torpedo range 4,000 average ship spotting range around 3,000. Need to be at least 2,000 for a good shot.

So theres that issue, as well as the fact I was deep in enemy occupied territory with little deck gun ammo left.

This skipper dident make it through 3 patrols so far by being a risk taker :|\\
