While we on the subject has anyone seen real white dog poo like it was years ago? I only ask as I heard years ago an substance was put in dog food which made there poo white so you could see it and made it with less smell. Nearly forgot dried up quicker as well.

  I ca't believe we are talking about this.

Seriously though, you are right. I remember in my younger days seeing doggy poo as white as chalk on the footpath and elsewhere. Now though I don't see this. Did pet food manufacturers really put something in the food to make crud turn white? :hmm:

Dogs were fed tripe in those days.

These days it's the human population that are fed it

Whatever happened to dog poop being white and powdery?

In the late 70's/early 80's when I was a kid we would see white chalky dog poo all the time. It was powdery, it turned to dust in a few days. And my friend would just step on her dogs poo and it would turn to dust. And back then the poop didn't stink either.Back then there were no signs saying "please clean up after your dog". Since the poop just turns chalky and eventually to dust within a few days. Nowadays when I walk to work I see brown dog poo everywhere. It stinks. Heck i havn't seen white dog poo in about 15 years! There are some piles that last for months before finally dicomposing. what happened?

Because the diet of dogs has changed. I totally blame pet food manufacterers for this. Commercial pet foods are filled with all sorts of crud and fillers and preserves, which make the poop brown and gunky. In the seventies more people fed their dogs a raw diet than they do now. People are being brainwashed into thinking commercial pet foods is what we should be feeding our pets!. My dog's poop is white. He is fed raw.

Corn started to be added to dog food...
Corn acts as an artificial stool hardener.. Also, dogs can't digest it properly, so, when it's pooped out, there's still quite a bit of it left to be broken down..
