My scenario was of course:

Started career in a Gato class then transferred to a Balo class when saved files became huge.

I started a new patrol (7th to be exact).

Left port than after 5 hours at sea, did my 1st save; file size 7.8Mb. Continued on towards Japan than after 8 days at sea, did my 2nd save under a different file name; file size 384.3Mb and again, no option to save it as a replay because that option was greyed out. My 3rd save after sinking a Medium Composite Freighter and a Large Tanker; file size 678.3Mb and growing.

I have RFB v1.5 latest and RSRDC latest installed so I'm looking forward to the fix.

Corrupted saves

This is a little off thread, but my saves are getting corrupted.

Very often save game changes things on reload. Most often affected is day/night condition. Most recently I saved with game time of 0530 and bright sunlight. When loaded again the same scenario changed to dark night with a quarter moon; game time stayed at 0530.

Had another one where two surface contacts disappeared as well as a change of light condition.

I'm running TMO152, RSRDC V371 and SCAF for both. Install order was as specified in the sticky. Never saw the problem with just TMO.

After I had the problem last night, I did a clean install of all. Inserted one saved game thereafter so I wouldn't loose the career. That save game was with the sub in port. Problem reproduced again tonight.

Any ideas?

So far I have saved a career into 37 saved file parts (9 War Patrols) ranging from S Boat in 1941 to Gato class in 1943. My saved file size at present is 93meg & I am running RFB with the RSRD mod. No problem so far with corrupt save files. :D

93 megs is way too much. If you don't save every few seconds or overextend your patrol with refits the size should be well under 10 megs, usually well under 5. :up:

I too have experienced the huge save files with RFB.
Problem seemed to go away after I made a save with the replay box enabled, then another without.

@neilbyrne

I have the same mods as you.
I had this problem also but only in special conditions that means: I start SH4 and reload a savegame...ouh..picked the wrong one..and loaded the one i wanted. Then all conditions were changed. So i restarted the game and took the right savegame..all conditions correct. Just for testing i loaded the savegame again...everything changed.
:damn:
My first solution was always to restart the game when conditions were wrong and my second solution was to complete reinstall SH4. After reinstalling i made copies of the clean installations. No i have 30GB SH4 on my harddisk..One clean Installation i never touch (Only use to make clean copies), one installation for each major Mod (RFB+RSRDC, TMO+RSRDC,RFB+RSRDC+OM4), one installation for testing mod combinations..

:up::up::up::up::up:

No more probs with any mods and my carreers

So people know. At this time it looks like this bug is fixed for the next RFB release. AStill testing, but it looks promising.

Oh man, I hope so. For the moment, it's unplayable to me because by the time I'm out to sea for 6 weeks, the file gets over 1gb. Don't have that much space left on C:. :(

Darnit, why did I only put 12gigs aside for my c: partition?! :damn:

Arclight 08-27-08 10:48 AM

Did some quick testing, don't know if it's any use: Balao, Gar, Sargo and Tambor class subs all seem to generate excessively large save game files. Others seem to be fine.

Just reloaded SH4 with RFB etc and the huge save file is preventing me from playing :-?
