So there I was out hiking in the hills with my dog when he started acting "squirrelly". We stopped and he literally burrowed under the low branches of a tree. Within a minute the LA quake rolled under us, literally lifting an irrigation pipe on the trail out of the ground (but not breaking it.)Coming from the land where the earth is a plate and the local garden variety snake will kill you, this "roller" was a first for me.
Heading to the mall now for a change of boxer shorts.

You guys are all right. I just Googled "California" and you're still attached to the North American continent... ;)

BTW, I grew up in Alaska on the "Rim of Fire" and I can understand exactly what your experiencing...

OH NO !!!! It gets WORSE.

Now we have to listen to the LongWinded L.A. Politicians.

Thx to all for responding.

On the lighter side. I remember wakeing up about 5 mins before the Northridge quake to have a smoke.

After an eternity and the shakeing was over I looked up at the ceiling and said.

OK I can take a hint ... I'LL QUIT SMOKING !!! :p

Dang. The US Geological Survey has declared it a Magnitude 5.4 quake, centered 3 miles WSW of Chino Hills, CA, at 8.5 miles in depth.

Hope all you guys near there are ok. I've never experienced an earthquake before, what's it like?

Ever seen one of those "bobble head" dolls? You know, the kind you stick on the dash of your car and the head "wobbles" around when you hit a bump?

It's like that only bigger...

Hey, just wait a moment here. Let's figure this out

jimbuna has a birthday today

Good likelyhood that jimbuna will be drinking many brews in celebration

Knowing the effect that brew chugging has on some guys...gas wise (either end).

jimbuna lets one go and all of a sudden we have this 5.8 "earthquake"?

jimbuna at least say "excuse me" :yep:

SUBMAN1 07-29-08 05:46 PM

You need a bunch more of those. You haven't been getting enough down there. The less you have, the worse. You will end up with a big one if you don't relieve some of that stress!

Nothing but Babble News on tv now.

Crap !!! If WWIII or a UFO landed we here would be the last to hear about it. :p :rotfl:

They'll beat this into the ground.

Usaully when a bad event happens elsewhere there's alway's some slight connection to some fool in L.A.

Their caught with their pants down this time. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Would be nice to experience an earthquake, from a safe place of course. If there indeed is a safe place when one occurs.

baggygreen 07-29-08 06:36 PM

Like what subman said, the more often you have small ones, the better - if you build it up, its only gonna be bigger and badder...

Tchocky 07-29-08 06:51 PM

Glad to here y'all are ok.

Never really experienced an earthquake when I lived in LA, mostly because I slept through this :p
