My FPS days are dying at the moment, entirely due to a lack of decent games and competition down under, so i picked up SH3 again, got gwx2 (might get 2.1 eventually), and created a WaW persona too. Then, i went out and bought DW.

Now I've been looking around, but I cant seem to find anything that discusses the differences between 1.02 (shipped in box) and 1.04 (thats the current version, right?).

1.02 was a dismal failure of a patch that was succeeded by 1.03 in a hurry. It had such a short tenure that I don't remember it all that clearly. In any case, most of the changes made by 1.03 and 1.04 are listed in the changelog, and don't require much elaboration to follow. The exception is the sim-killing problem with 1.02, which became known as the "drunken planesman" problem, which would cause the subs to nose dive during turns without the planesman compensating. 1.03 corrected this but created manuevering problems when subs went shallow, often resulting in the TA being severed. 1.04 corrected this as well, although there remains some depth control problems at shallow depths which may result in broaching the surface.

Nor can i find anything that mentions (or more, shows) the differences mods like lwami make.
The link to the LWAMI readme is provided directly under the link to the LWAMI installer on subguru's download page.

Broaching the boat does happen from time to time. TMCM David "Red" Padgett gave me knot on the back of my head once while he had the dive. Shortly thereafter I became a very attentive planesman.:D

I got it 2 weeks ago. I found the game at a store, they had it at a 4.95€ price.

I didn't hesitate for even a second ;).

Woohoo!

my copy finally arrived this morning, now i've got another 9 hours to go til i can get home and start getting my ass handed to me! (my manual is on the way from the US, so its not gonna be pretty til i get that!)

The manual's on pdf on the disk, so you don't need to wait until you get the hard copy. You can print sections of it and study them bit by bit (it's better to read the manual that way anyway, I found).

Let me know when you're ready for some MP, because I'd like to give it a try, and I'm in Sydney. I'm also finishing off a tutorial mission for the Frigate, which I'll post up soon.

If both you guys want to do some multiplayer, count me in as well. We could do some practicing with two guys on a team against one guy as the opposition. Or, we could do 3 guys on one platform. Not only would it be good practice and learning naval ops but would make things quite interesting to say the least.

There are a lot of opportunities with this sim in terms of team play, playable station platforms and scenario locations and situations. I'm currently gathering information to put together a group of scenarios relating to events in the Black Sea and Georgia. What are your time availabilities?

It is GMT-05:00. But don't let that put you off. I am very flexible when it comes to setting up online gameplay with people from the other side of the world.;) It is 9:40am here right now which means my GMT time is 3:40pm.

After several years without playing DW (and losing the disk), I have also just purchased it again.

Would like to know if there's still people playing it online, and I would appreciate to learn about recent developments (if any).

Best regards from Spain.

There is a rather easy to use calendar over at the CADC including RSVP function. It has proven its usefulness in the poast so you might want to consider using it to schedule games in advance.

Go here : http://www.commanders-academy.com/ and then simply use the link in the Nav Bar on the left labeled "Post Event" (Assumed you are registered and logged in already).

Sounds good to me. I'll do the same. I actually might have some time this weekend for a session since the wife is going to be gone for a time.:) Let's keep in touch.

Neat. That looks pretty good. I'll check this out more thoroughly later. Thanks for the heads-up on this.
