Oh, and our theaters now have a very strict phone policy - you can be made to leave for interrupting the movie. |

Der Rote Baron (2008)
Quote:
*SPOILERS BELOW* What disappointed me more than anything is that MvR is played by Matthias Schweighofer (who looks like a teenager) and Werner Voss was played by Til Schweiger (who looks like a 40-year old man... and is in fact a 40-year old man...). Plus, it's missing some very key characters in the life of MvR, including Boelcke, Allmenroeder, Loewenhardt (though you can spot Lowenhardt's yellow DR.1 in the balloon attack scene), and Goering. Thankfully, Kurt Wolff is in the film as is Lothar von Richthofen. Also, the historical accuracy is apparently also horrid. Lanoe Hawker is flying an Se5a when MvR shoots him down (instead of an Airco DH2), Roy Brown is portrayed as the killer of the Baron (even though that was proven to have been impossible), and it also claims that MvR and Brown had met beforehand (which this never happened... EVER...). *END SPOILERS* Overall, it sounds like an even WORSE remake of Von Richthofen & Brown. I was disappointed to hear how little dogfighting there is in the film (which should be the most important focus of the film...). So much potential, but what a lazy attempt at an execution. |

Summation: It wasn't the best movie I've seen this year by a long shot, but still I didn't feel like I wasted my money. My friends and I are still talking about the pluses and minuses, so that's worth something in itself. |

As I said, though, I still thought it was worth the money. Much fun for the most part. You saw it. PM me if you want to talk about it. |
Will be seeing the dark knight in the near future. From the trailers I've seen, Heath ledger is going to be in with a chance for an Oscar.
I'll will be taking my wife and mother in law to see Mama Mia this weekend. If that isn't an act of love I don't know what is......:-? |
You could fall down the stairs and fracture your leg you know... DON'T DO IT! ABANDON SHIP, MAN! If you see that film... you'll never come out the same! I just know it!
:lost: |
I've been going quite gaga over Indiana Jones at the moment. Not just the new one (which is great) but the old ones as well. IF you haven't seen them (and judging by the standard age of the forummembers here, you've most likely have),then see them! NOW! If nothing else, you might like to see a scene during a certain U-boat make a guest appearance....

I thought the Indiana Jones movie was sub-par, but then I didn't care for the Temple of Doom very much either. I liked The Last Crusade and of course, the original which was the best.
I agree with Steve's assesment of "Hancock" very much. I tend to nitpick holes in the plot too, that is part of the fun. I'm glad I saw it in the theatre rather than making it a rental. The big plot twist I never saw coming, and I like that. |

A friend described it as "XFiles with Natasha (from Rocky & Bullwinkle)" :-? I have just recently seen an old movie which I had not seen before. "Empire of the Sun" is a great movie! :yep: |
