And once again Americans lead the way.:rotfl: I go to a cineplex with 'stadium seating' (the floor climbs up so no one's head is ever in the way), very comfortable rocking seats, a food court built in so you can buy and take real food right into the theater, and special tray-holders so you can eat and drink in comfort. But I agree - some movies I have to see now, but most of them I can wait for.

Oh, and our theaters now have a very strict phone policy - you can be made to leave for interrupting the movie.

I wish my local cinema would do that, when I went seeing Jarhead a couple of years ago girl in the row behind me answered her phone and hen proceded to have a very loud phone converstion until practically half of the audience, including me, turned round and asked her to shut up in no uncertain terms!

Wasn't very good. Only got a 4.8 on IMDb. Apparently, there were only about 6 minutes of dogfighting scenes, there was a crappy love story thrown in there, and the acting wasn't very convincing. One user said Flyboys was actually better!:o

What disappointed me more than anything is that MvR is played by Matthias Schweighofer (who looks like a teenager) and Werner Voss was played by Til Schweiger (who looks like a 40-year old man... and is in fact a 40-year old man...). Plus, it's missing some very key characters in the life of MvR, including Boelcke, Allmenroeder, Loewenhardt (though you can spot Lowenhardt's yellow DR.1 in the balloon attack scene), and Goering. Thankfully, Kurt Wolff is in the film as is Lothar von Richthofen. Also, the historical accuracy is apparently also horrid. Lanoe Hawker is flying an Se5a when MvR shoots him down (instead of an Airco DH2), Roy Brown is portrayed as the killer of the Baron (even though that was proven to have been impossible), and it also claims that MvR and Brown had met beforehand (which this never happened... EVER...).

Overall, it sounds like an even WORSE remake of Von Richthofen & Brown. I was disappointed to hear how little dogfighting there is in the film (which should be the most important focus of the film...). So much potential, but what a lazy attempt at an execution.

I just saw Hancock yesterday. I disagree, with Enigma's opinion, but only a little. There are some very funny bits, but also some quite serious ones. There are a couple of out-of-left-field plot twists that really took me by surprise, which is a good thing, but there are also a large amount of unexplained plot devices that left me wondering.

Summation: It wasn't the best movie I've seen this year by a long shot, but still I didn't feel like I wasted my money. My friends and I are still talking about the pluses and minuses, so that's worth something in itself.

Curious: Could you talk about those without giving anything away to our friends that have yet to see it?

Not really. All I can say is that they partially explain how his powers came about, and then leave the questions of who, how, why and where hanging. It's one of those "leave your brain at the door and you'll enjoy it more" situations, but I just can't help myself. If it doesn't make sense that's okay (of course Iron Man couldn't control himself in flight that way), but I feel like this one doesn't make sense within its own context, and that bothers me.

As I said, though, I still thought it was worth the money. Much fun for the most part.

I've been going quite gaga over Indiana Jones at the moment. Not just the new one (which is great) but the old ones as well. IF you haven't seen them (and judging by the standard age of the forummembers here, you've most likely have),then see them! NOW! If nothing else, you might like to see a scene during a certain U-boat make a guest appearance....

I thought the Indiana Jones movie was sub-par, but then I didn't care for the Temple of Doom very much either. I liked The Last Crusade and of course, the original which was the best.

I agree with Steve's assesment of "Hancock" very much. I tend to nitpick holes in the plot too, that is part of the fun. I'm glad I saw it in the theatre rather than making it a rental. The big plot twist I never saw coming, and I like that.
