I am back to solely using vista x64 now, So i can't test any other version you see

And just post any probs if any so i can drop the file if it's causing bad issues

Ahoy again. :)

Still a no go on XP 32, for me anyway. Tried installer and manual driver update, which claims incompatibility with XP. Device manager lists unknown device, Rivatuner reports no supported drivers installed. Cleanup after attempted install listed just a single entry in the registry. :-?

If i knew the OS Rip is using i can count that out as he says his installed fine, I know Vista x64 works like a charm so whatever rips os is (hopefully not vista x64 lol) i could maybe rule2 out of having problems

must that driver uninstall process be followed only for card drivers? ar after runnin the driver sweep must i reinstall all other drivers, motherboard etc?

No, Just uninstall the vid drivers in the driver sweeper

Leave chipset/sound etc as-is

We're just trying to remove the vid files

I did notice when i used Ctrl + F11 for a screenie it did hand for a micro sec, Did think on 1st screenie that "hey up the swines gonna lockup on me" lol, but didn't

Going back to ati if prices/performance are to be believed :)

I might be wrong (more than likely) but maybe nvidia won't want to keep updating series 8 cards for much longer, Makes it better as more will start switching to these new cards and later derivatives

I've never had any issues with any game in XP, Only SH 4 1.5 in vista and x64 vista lol

Got a new 24" using older 640 8800gts so need a new card or hopefully crossfire setup :)

Well , it wouldn't surprise me if they dropped support for older cards. I remember M$ dropping the old Xbox like a ton of bricks the second that Xheap360 was released (seems to be the way of doing things for every big company nowadays); laughed my ass off to see the forums light up with complaints and troubles, that's what you get for cutting the "life-cycle" of your old platform short by a year. Sure, you get a head start on the competition, but you don't have time to test the new console properly. IMHO Xbox360 was only up to standard by the time PS3 was released. Ow well, I'm a PS guy anyway, only bought one of those old Boxes when the new one was released. And instead of a new PS, I bought a kickass rig. Thanks to that, I can now enjoy SH4 in all it's splendor, but I'm missing out on GT4, GTA5 and MGS4. Think I'll just wait for more price-cuts, not really worth it at the moment.

Still, I have an "old" new 6200 lying around (old as in old model, new as in new, unmoddable version), which is still supported by latest drivers. Maybe not really updated anymore, but still supported. As long as the issues with a very few select games get resolved under XP (something with how XP handles shaders) like Nvidia promised, I'm happy with my 8800GTS 512.

Hmm... guess they really can't drop it yet, my card uses same core as 9 series. :hmm:

And this rig is less then 6 months old, so they better not. :mad:

Doing great for me but I have been hesitant to say much as I haven't had as much playing time with them as I would like before heaping the praise. I plan to get a few good sessions in this weekend and if I still haven't had a crash I will deem them the best drivers for my 8800 I have had so far.

More 177.** due out so when they surface i'll edit the .inf's and try them

So far the initial 177.26's have no stuttering etc so are the best

On a lighter note, Each time i fire a fish or two, I haven't been gritting/grinding my teeth now just as impact takes place lol

Cannot fault these 177.26's at all :)

So much for a fix for the 8 series cards from nvidia in their 175.** drivers, Seems it's fixed solely for their new expensive card series (hmm they obviously didn't expect modded .inf's lmao)

Roll on more drivers to test :)

Well I have played a few more hours and have yet to make these babies crash. I have watch explosions up close, zipped through fire, smoke and oil fires with reckless abandon and changed cameras while in high TC without regard to crash prevention. It will take a good reason to get me to upgrade my drivers again.

Now back to the war.
