So? You're telling me that such sentiments are not normal for this board? Or maybe you believe we didn't participate in the D-Day invasion?

I think it's you who owes an apology to just about everyone.
Again, for what? Because I am reluctant to talk about American military achievements on this board that means to you that i think we're better than anyone else? Sorry 1+1 does not equal 3 regardless of your personal feelings about me Pal.

Maybe I am too snippy today, but the impression I get from most of your posts is that you do indeed think that we are the best there is, and if anybody says anything negative then they're bashing us, and if they disagree then they deserve your derision. I don't see nearly as much anti-American feelings here as you seem to.

But if that's not the case, and I did mistake your attitude, then sure, I'll apologize.

To everyone else I apologize for arguing with that asshat in this tribute thread.

FWIW I did not want to be the first to mention our countries participation because I didn't want to get the usual suspects going.

However, apparently to at least one of my countrymen that automatically means i don't know and/or care about the contributions of our gallant allies in that operation.

Nothing could be further from the truth. The d-day victory was of course an allied victory and to the British, Canadians and French I say we all owe a lot to our forefathers for their sacrifice and their determination.

Anyone play that Medal of Honour game where you had the D-day mission?

Considering that a video game is about 1/10000000000000000000000000% the realism of real life, even the video game was scary. I simply can't imagine the reality of that beach landing.

A heartfelt salute to all who had the sheer guts to make that landing. Even though I will never know the hundreds of small heroic actions of soldiers I never will know, I can still honour their memory.

How men could do that is awe inspiring.

Yeah, me too.

But more seriously, August, I really don't know what got into me yesterday. I have differences with you, and I'd love to get deeper into them when the time is appropriate, but I usually pick my fights based on single points, not generalities.
