Thanks for posting the file, it's much appreciated . BTW, does this new version allow the use of the "F10" (deck gun) camera now? I always used an old version of Kegetys d3d9.dll for years, but since I upgraded to SP3 (or maybe before, I can't remember sorry!) it was always worth the tradeoff of loosing the F10 hotkey for the greatly improved res (I like to play SHIII in 1440x900). I'm guessing that the included shiii.sdb file fixes this, yes? Sorry to have to ask but I'm not at my computer to test it right now, thanks.

Well I have edited the config and applied that same res... 1440x900 and it works fine with me. |
To Kit or not to Kit ?
Hi Kaleuns!
I would like to listen Tuddley3 personal opinion: The Compatiblity Tool Kit is nessesary or not? Because Marco Ramius said is not anymore. Thanks in advance Tuddley3, I took the file anyway from your address in FileFront (thanks again, because I can't find that in Microsoft's site anymore). |
If you use the file : " SH3_XPSP2_Res_Fix_For_1.4b" , then no need the tool kit.
But if you use the "old" one ( DX9Res10 ) then, you need the tool kit .. In fact, the "SH3_XPSP2_Res_Fix_For_1.4b" have the DX9res10 in it, and one more tweak as a simple bat.file which do the work needed. Part of the readme : "Just copy the two batch files and the SHIII.sdb file to your SH3 directory, and run the "SP2 Res fix.bat".(I've included a batch file to uninstall the fix should you ever need to.) I've included the d3d9.dll and d3d9.cfg in case you don't already have it. Thanks to Kegetys for dx9res10 and to +G for the idea of creating this zip. " |
The "SH3_XPSP2_Res_Fix_For_1.4b" file works just fine.
Unfortunately the batch files don't .... at least not for me! Every time I try to get into the Mission Editor I have to physically remove the cfg and dll files.:hmm: |
kit or not — 2
Thank you Marko Ramius / Merci bien pour la clarification
I will try with a TFT screen and the natal resolution. À la prochaine. |
No problemo, chere compatriote

F9 and F11 are also inoperative for me with Kegetys' fix, so they work for you?? Strange... I looked at the files and it appears it's just Kegetys' old d3d9.dll I've been using since 2005. As well as the known F key conflicts, it stretches the screen size perfectly but it doesn't correct the aspect ratio. I took this screen a few minutes ago... note how it's stretched and not 16:10. http://img134.imageshack.us/img134/4...chedip9.th.jpg Note the oval-shaped Sun but... the textures on my flags are not stetched! Dials and other things like periscope view are very prominently oval-shaped, but it's not a gamekiller for me, I can live with it (but it would be nice to finally fix it). I was thinking that if some textures are stretched and some aren't, it might interfere with map Navigation angles and TDC? I never had any major problems with it though. Anyone...? One more thing, I noticed that the included batch files aren't necessary unless you're using an old version of XP from three years ago. All you need are d3d9.dll and d3d9.cfg in your SH3 game folder. The batch files were for either installing or uninstalling the included SHIII.SDB file ("Appfix package") into SH3.EXE, which is exactly the same file you can always create yourself with the Microsoft Application Compatability Toolkit (which, as has already been mentioned, is no longer required for this fix). I can fix the F9, F10 and F11 key conflicts by reprogramming them in my "Commands_en.cfg" no problem, but it would be nice if there was a final solution to correct the aspect ratio for widescreen displays :damn: ~Rope |
Hi all.
i run the fix on widescreen but i dont get any stretching at all - strange. i dont know what could be causing it, the fix works fine on mine. one tip tho. when i enabled the fix at my screens native resolution there was a problem which made the fix largely worthless: the textures within the border of a shape were greatly enhanced, at the cost of the edges being horribly jagged, despite AA being turned up full on my graphics card; also, the rigging on ships looked horrible. i was not happy with this trade off and almost dumped the fix, but then decided to try this: instead of configuring it to run at full resolution, i checked the next biggest widescreen ratio supported by my graphics card; so, ive now got the fix set to run at 1440x900 on my 1680x1050 screen. this is a trade off i am happy with: textures have been improved and i have nice smooth edges - sweet! what im gonna try next is gradually increasing the res used by the fix (whilst maintaining the 16:10 ratio) to see if i can find the best combination of texture and smooth edges. i was a bit underwhelmed by the fix at first, but now i reckon that, if u have a big monitor, you should try it  |
Looks like sh3 res works well with 1280*780 and higher for full sceen. But anyone just try it at 800*600 and you will know what kind of problem i have!
