its £1.10 a litre here which is £5.50 per gallon to you thats around $10.92 per gallon.

I suppose it doesnt help that alot of american folk drive around in big V6 or V8 gas guzzleing machines im about to get a 2.0litre diesel mondeo she will do around 50 miles to a gallon and well worth the £6k investment.

makes alot of diffrence if your filling up a 62 litre tank i started driving 2 years ago i could fill up a 62 litre tank for £44 (was around 79.9p per litre) since then the same tank costs me £73.50 roughly (£110.9 per litre) see the diffrence?

I have a 2.0litre rover 600 does around 42MPG on a run at 58mph all the way, most american cars are 3.6 to 4.6 V6's and V8'S doing around 26MPG.

My friends for mustang 4.6GT automatic does 21MPG.

If you had a economical engine or even a diesel car you would save a heck of alot, the same rover 600 in diesel does around 51MPG it costs more to fill up but you get alot more miles over a longer run per gallon.

Im planning on buying a 2.0litre 130BHP 6 speed manual TDCI modeo (diesel) according to the fact sheet it averages 55MPG at 65MPH so at 56MPH maybe push for 60MPG in 6th gear).

Tax is cheaper on diesels so is the insurance only thing that stings us is the pump price (most are 116.9 per litre highest ive seen is 128.9 per litre).

Best of all its cheap as chips to run especialy on bio fuel.

Yeah, it's only going to get worse I'm afraid. To foil potential gas thieves, I've measured the fuel tank and mounting points on my wifes '99 Villager van. I have a friend who is welding up a 1/4" steel "tub" that will enclose the tank completely from below and also shield the filler neck. I've already added a switch to the fuel cap access door and integrated it into the van's alarm system. Fortunately, the fuel lines are already fairly inaccessable and I'm going to add 1/4" steel plates in a couple of places just in case.

If anyone want so syphon or puncture the tank, or cut and use a fuel line, they are really going to have to work at it. :up:

We didnt need to do that the other week one of the busses went over a raise island solid concreate puncturing the 250litre diesel tank needless to say there wasnt any left afterwards.
