There is one class of British Battleship sorely missing - the QE class. (Because the Placeholders used by the supermods seriously screw with the realism - once I ran into a british TF in the Indian ocean consisting of four HMS Howes.)

So my vote goes to the QE class, because I miss Warspite and her companions the most in GWX, considering the crucial rule they played in every naval theatre of war (especially norway and the med).

There are already many modders working on merchants like IABL, Rowi etc. I'd rather you work on a beautiful class of warships with a rich history instead of Tanker Variant X.

The biggest tankers during WWII would have been converted whale factories, which were about 20,000 tons tops. I wanted to make a whale factory but I don't think I will for the time being, since there are already a lot of big ships. I think we could use a lot more coastal merchantmen and tankers from between 500-2,500 GRT. If too many large ships are in the merchant roster it tends to cause excessively high scores.

Hey -without Tanker Variant X your BB's would spend the war sitting in port with no bunker fuel! :D Not to mention your Shermans, Spitfires, Jeeps, etc. etc...

I'd like to see more small ships. Already got an arsenal of large liners and merchants. I remember most ships sunk were <5.000 tons. On the other side, a large one like Whalefactory "Terje Viken" would be great too... But my choice was smaller ones

That reminds me. I spent some time looking for photos of Terje Viken, as well as more info about her last voyage. Unfortunately all I could find was one blurry photo from uboat.net. It's too bad that merchantmen in general are not the subjects of intense historical interest, with a few obvious exceptions like "Titanic" and "Lusitania".:nope:

Suggestions

1500-3000 ton merchants, whale factories, 3000-12000 ton liners, fleet support ships, USS Texas, WWI type light cruisers!

sh3rules 04-05-08 08:23 AM

No, heavy merchants and huge tankers are better!

I am working on a new large merchant steamer that is based on ships like the "Cyclops" (the British one, not the US Navy ship). It is a replacement for an existing ship in the mod, so it will not cause average tonnage to go up.

That is correct and I didn't mean to bash anyone's work. I just really, really miss the workhorse of the British fleet in GWX. Somehow, the battle of Narvik doesn't feel real with a nelson class BB instead of the Warspite. *Sniff*

That reminds me - weren't you working on one, IABL?

That`s really a nice ship you`re working on, would make a nice addition. Puts
