And more Green Tax looks likely as Labour sets out to save the world from green house gases and global warming. What a load of BS, as if they could.
The UK is way behind on their commitments, same as many EU countries.

Good news for pensions a rise in winter fuel allowance which will be wiped out by council tax rise.
That's costing the fuel companies an estimated 1bn pounds. I'm suprised Darling had the clout to do it.

Haven't seen the budget yet, will post later.

Jimbuna 03-12-08 10:40 AM

I must admit to feeling a tad sorry for Mr Darling (can you imagine being burdoned with that chestnut of a name all your life..........his parents either loathed having him from birth, or were a right pair of comediens with a fantastic sense of humour)

Talk about the organ grinder sending the monkey to do the work. :p

MAKE NO MISTAKE.....this budget was written by Gordon Brown. :yep:

As per usual, every new chancellor picks up the reigns left by the previous one.

We all know who the previous one was!!!!

Mr. Darling must have felt totally humiliated and undermined during the whole budget presentation. :nope:

Once more, England suffer at the hands of a Scottish person of questionnable sanity

Even STEEDS mate was slightly more pallatable

I hope to hell he loses the election in 09 when there has o be one. Cameron might not be much different but it is time for a change.

Just to clarify when the Government has to go to the polls. Recent speculation puts the date of the next election in June 2009, however, the Government can hold out to the spring of 2010 should they wish to.

Out of idle curiosity letum do you drive? anything other than a motorbike?

Letum 03-12-08 12:49 PM

Just my motorbike, but like everyone else I pay for fuel on every item I buy, especially food.
I do what I can to take an objective and universal view, putting aside my personal circumstances.

Defiance 03-12-08 02:15 PM

Well it's done n dusted

We get stiffed yet again

Governments upped the usuals way above inflation saying it's due to economic/troubled times ahead (inho they are now getting caught out by cooking the books lol and are trying to straighten things out)

Really they spend on redundant things and recoupe via higher taxation, Usual fubar UK spending £1 to save 50p

Here's an eg for the rest of uk'ers, Every 16 billion pumped into the NHS 4 billion gets wasted lol

If all NI contributions (for none uk'ers that think our health service is free, This is a tax to fund the health service) went on the NHS we'd have a great health service

Another eg, Out of all road fund tax (car tax disc) 10% only gets spent on anything to do with roads/lights/repairs/by-passes etc etc

Makes me sick as in this country we have no control on parliament once the toss ers have been voted in (and they know it)

And as for the armed services needing money, Yes i couldn't agree more, But why on earth ask yourselves has the government kept brand new chinooks that are so desperately needed in eg afghanistan/iraq mothballed because of a row over the cockpit instruments, And as for the SA80, Why spend so damn much on an initial piece of **** and then the upgrades to allow it to function properly when theyre are equally or better weapons out there at a lesser price

Ohh and as for ID cards, I recall most of the western world condemming the eastern block for the ID card practice, Now because the damn government can't organise a pee up in a brewery to try and stop illegals etc we were all going to have to have ID cards, Now it seems it's going to be voluntary (unless your passport needs renewal then you have to have one lol) err laws are for law-abiding, If i was illegally in uk do you think i would sweat not having a card ? or guns, Shootings on the increase all the times and what are they ? Handguns mainly that were banned, So what has the handgun ban done ? absolutley nowt except law abiders owning and using handguns

Damn this country is more and more a nanny state and yet they can't grasp what most average people want or need

I swear most of mp's must of had too much lsd etc in the 60's while in their hippy youth

Rant over :) as i could go on and on and me teas done :D

Have Fun

Ciao

So not bad for me.

I suspect you'll find that the majority of low paid people, who have no savings, pay a mortgage or rent (including council tax), like to relax or socialise with the odd alcoholic drink, enjoy a cigarette and drive, will have a different perspective.

STEED 03-13-08 08:46 AM

Well I done the number cruching and took in to acount some of there measures were long term and the answer is this.

STEED will be better going to prison in 2011. :D

Great all those Human Rights Liberals backing me to the hilt and the do gooders, nice cell called Sir by the prison warders and no more problems for a few years what a steal. :D :D

STEED now plans to Blow up the EU Parliament. :D :D :D

On a serious note time for further cut backs and next winter I will know what this pensioner saying means, Heat or Eat.

Jimbuna 03-13-08 11:35 AM

Considering this is their third term in office and taking into account the financial mess this country is in......I should imagine the Scottish upstart is wringing his hands together knowing that the alternative (Conservative) camp is in it's worst state of readiness to mount a credible/serious challenge ever in it's history. :smug:

Idiot of the week award must go to the Minister for Education,Ed Balls.Whilst the leader of the opposition David Cameron was providing his response to the budget,Balls replied "So what!" when it was mentioned that we in the UK pay more tax than anybody else in Europe.
I do believe that Balls and his wife are both in parliament and are obviously very well remunerated for it-unlike the rest of us trying to earn an honest wage.I believe he is now denying he said it!:nope::nope:
