Is this the case? I originally assumed this was true but think I read somewhere in this forum that the escorts sensors weren't affected by the merchants although their passage to get you might be impeded.

I attacked a convoy last night and was able to go to Ahead Standard without being detected because I was in the middle of a convoy. I'm guessing here, but I think the ambient sounds of the convoy do affect ASW ships sonar.
