And so what do I read online in the Sydney Morning Herald today:

"High oil prices drove US consumer inflation to the fastest pace in more than two years last month, data showed Friday, raising concerns the Federal Reserve will hold back from further interest rate relief.

US consumer prices surged 0.8 percent in November while the closely watched core inflation index rose 0.3 percent, the Labor Department reported."

We have had it good on inflation for so long. I can only hope that this isn't the end of controlled low inflation. Still it could be a lot worse like Zimbabwe thanks to that scumbag Mugabe. :down:

As I predicted a wash out. People in this country are sheep and they fear the government or bone idol or even a bit of both.

I don't quite understand this protest. Brits are mad at ever increasing petrol price. so they are going to clog major road routs by blocking all lanes of travel and drive slowly? How does this hurt oil companies or the government. Protesters decide to drive with an emphasis on large gas guzzling trucks to the oil companies will see increased sales from it. Second it's a Saturday so the majority of government is not in operation. All i can see the protest doing is making a headache for the average citizen and commercial truck drivers.:damn: I just don't get it.

In the US people have tried sending out mass emails asking people not to purchase petrol on certain days. However there is very little fallow thru. Even if one could get a large percentage of people it really hut companies because people will make it up the next day.

Now the way to really effect gas prices is to stage a 4 day protest and refuse to buy gas. In the US (I assume the UK is similar) there is only a 3 day supply a gas after that there is none left. That means if the majority of the country does not by gas than after 3 day all storage tanks, station are filled to the max. and Oil companies will be forced to shut down refineries, production rigs and stop shipping. This will cost oil companies 100s of millions of dollars. If it was done in the US it would send shock wave every where even hurting OPEC.:rock: If it could be organized and is successful then the very threat of it happening again could lower gas prices in the feature.

So you hope to generate sympathy for your cause amongst the people by making it more difficult for them to get around? Maybe you guys ought to go for their full devotion by toshing them on the head with bricks...

Well it worked before in 2000, and I'm sympathetic, until you guys have petrol as expensive as ours then you will understand.

It's on it's way fast enough, but the question still stands. Of all the methods for making a point why pick a protest tactic that obstructs those whose support one will need to achieve ones goals?

Your diesel costs about $8 U S a gallon?
