II liked AL as well so I sincerely hope you're right Kiwi, but Oct 21st was her last post and six months is a mighty long lick.

Too bad. I also disagree with her on many issues. That said, I invited her to come to New Mexico for the Big Pow-wow this weekend. I guess I'll just have to send her the buffalo jerky. See you at the Gathering. Anawashte, Kolas.

OOhh! I'm a Commodore now. But not one of the proud Gods and Commodores of this Earth. I stand forth as my own inexorable self.

After reading what she was sent to the brig for, I'd have to say the brig penalty was uncalled for. Knowing that, I don't think she will ever be back since she wasn't treated fairly in my opinion. Maybe there is something else I don't know about, like some heated PM's or something that all added up to a stay in the brig, but don't hold your breath in that she will ever be back here if it was based only on that heated discussion she was involved in. :nope: Its a pride thing.

I concur with Subman. There was no reason for a 10-day sentence in the brig. Totally uncalled for and totally unfair. Moderators have a habit of getting a little too carried away with their power.

I'll be the black sheep and say i don't miss her. I won't get into why, im just being honest in saying that i don't, and thats all im saying about that. And the way it see it, thats ok. Once i get over this forum addiction (someday  ), ill be gone too, and i don't expect anyone to miss me either.

The incident she was penalized for alone may have not been so bad, but you have to take into account her behaviour prior to it. There were many times discipline was called for, but she got away, in large part out of respect for her productive role in the community. I don't think there's any question that she was a great member who added a lot of life to the place - but unfortunately she was also very forward in throwing cans of gasoline into the forum, waiting for someone to light a match, and then using underhanded tactics and fielding totally inappropriate personal attacks when issues she had a strong opinion were addressed. There were many complaints from multiple members about her behaviour. While I'm not a GT mod, I did discuss this in private with a number of members who expressed their frustration with ALs demeanor and the way she provoked animosity. In some cases, sure, she may have been right to mock people or try to attack their opinions, and more importantly - expose their bias and ridicule their ignorance. But this forum is not a place for that.

To put it bluntly, while I still greatly respect AL, if her departure means that she saw nothing wrong with her own behaviour - I think it's a good thing she hasn't come back. This is not the place to behave the way she did.

An old thread, yes, but it comes up only because we do not know what and why. I mailed her twice back then, never got a reply. She surely was controversial, and straight. I did not always agree with her, and sometimes thought myself "Was this necessary now, AL?", nevertheless I respected her. A bit more self-restraint, and it all would have been different, maybe. the event for which she was sent to the brig in my opinion did not justify the penalty, but I assume Neal spanked her on that opportunity for all what was before, and I think he said something like that. And I assume this she took queer.Due to her controversial nature as well as her constructive contributions I consider her absence as two thirds a loss, and one third a win.

Can't help but agree with CCIP here. At the time of the brigging (is this a word?), I certainly didn't expect any reticence or humility on return. Which would have been fine until the next explosive thread.

:hmm:

The banning must of knocked her ego a wee bit. I honestly thought she would be back she gave me the impression she was tough as nails. She was very pro Jewish nothing wrong with that but she should of taken Steeds formula, why is Steed a popular chap on the forum? Cause he's the opposite of Avon, he hates his govenment and thats a good thing:p
