Was responding to the Kpt. (#16)....But it should also apply to all anyway, I suppose :lol:

Gato subs are tough s.o.b.'s. I put an eel in the forward section and it didnt sink for some time. It just stood on it's bow with the stern out of the water, but didnt sink. I surfaced and started blasting away at it with the 8.8cm and after some ~20 shots the "she's going down" message finally appeared.
weird. I dont think that I'll engage them anytime soon, cuz it's summer '43 and the Bay of Biscay is getting crowded.
