I wouldn't mind a trip to the Atlantic for a shot or two at a good German capital boat ... er ... ship.

Just FYI, the main reason i created this thread, was to plant the seed of thought in other SH4 modders. If you think its a cool idea and want to create this for your mod, GO FOR IT! It doesnt have to be me that does it.

That said, i am going to work on this.. probably after the add on is released, but ill be doing it in my own way.

Yeah...as you can see by the record they didn't find much to sink. Given the success US subs had in the Pacific sinking I-Boats I'm kinda surprised no U-Boats were ever caught by Gatos in the Atlantic. But then this was early on when US torpedoes were at their worst.

clayton 11-10-07 06:55 PM

Right back at 'em...

Id hazzard a guess that they were mismanaged from higher up

Heres a quote from one of the links in the orginal post:

Quote:

Each night we would receive orders to proceed to a point where German "milch cow" submarines were expected to refuel an attack boat. No visual or radar contacts were made. It also appeared we were going between these points out of sync. If we had been permitted to stay put one night we might have made contact.

Guess im gonna have to make a WIP thread in the mod forum pretty soon.

Yes, i know the location isnt 100% correct. I used Firth of Clyde since it was the closest harbor to rosneath that currently exists in the game.

hyperion2206 11-11-07 04:59 AM

Here's another idea:
Quite a few S boats were doin patrols on the east coast, carribean and the Panama Canal. Would be cool if that could be implemented although they achieved even less then SUBRON 50.

Captain Vlad 11-11-07 06:45 AM

Man, talk about something different...definitely got my attention.

A Milch Cow or Type IX in the ol' periscope crosshairs would be very, very sweet...or shooting it out with some E-Boats...

Angus89 11-11-07 05:18 PM

Would be very interesting to catch a milch cow refitting a u-boat at sea. Fire forward tubes, full spread.:hmm:
