My rezes are at 1680x1050 on my 20inch. I don't use the native settings. I also deactivate the Flat panel scaling. Ofcourse I'm using vista 32 ultimate.

Stalker for example,

In windows XP sp2 I was able to get frames as low as 7 and high as 34 with rez of 1024,768 with medium settings ingame.

In Vista I get average of mid 30's with similar settings. I push it ofcourse. SH3 for my system is a breeze.

If I had your system... Well It would purr.

There are many options that you can do to gain fps!

Disconect your pc from any network and open the taskmanager. deactivate bogus backround programs that hog resources. Trial and error I always say. Then turn off all them windows nonsense graphic features. Even the windows sound beeps and chimes off!

If you do a google search you can fined many masters on windows XP tweaks + tips to improve your systems for gaming. And you don't need to install any overclocking tools iether.

Anyhow goodluck and remember Trial and error!

off topic sorry: do you notice any major FPS hits with my SH4 effects (and more) for SH3 mod with your setup? Not trying to highjack this thread :88)

From the screenshots I believe I have exactly the same display issue, and I'm running an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB on drivers that are probably 18 months old now. I'll have to try to get a screenshot of it tomorrow and see if it comes out exactly the same, but I often see a flickering effect along the edge of a ship on the waterline.

I might be wrong, but I think it only happens when viewing ships that are a long way from my sub's location. If I use the free view and fly maybe 5+ km to view a ship, or if I use the views on the , and . keys to jump to faraway ships, I think it's more apparent. If I look at a ship nearby I don't remember seeing it. Will have to check this more tomorrow too.

If the above is true, it's perhaps something inherent to the game rather than a driver setting. To give better performance maybe the game reduces the quality of the rendering between ocean & any ship that is far away from you. The base point is always your sub, not the camera position. Just a theory anyway... will try to look into it more after work tomorrow :yep:

I do see that in all of your screenshots the watch officer called the ships out at long range, though.

Excellent Observation Turm, I believe this ship was fairly far away. I'm guessing roughly 9k to 10k. Once my sonar officer reported the contact I hit the event camera for it. I will get closer to the target and try it again. I don't normally use the event camera but I wanted to check out all the new goodies in Racerboy's sh4 effect mod.

I have not experience hardly any frame reductions while using Racerboys lasted release. I had a 10-15 fps drop before when I was using his first release (1.06), but with 2.021 I have actually gained 20 or so fps even with multiple explosions, fire and smoke at the same time (around 150-200 fps).

After doing some optimizations on my machine I was able to get around 100 fps going through the english channel!

Although you didn't directly ask me, I have an old, rather modest system (Athlon XP3000, 768MB RAM, Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB), and didn't really notice any slowdown when using your effects mod. A rather excellent mod it is too!

I do get a bit of slowdown and sluggishness in rough seas when looking through the periscope/UZO, but during massive, multiple explosions my PC kept up fine with your mod :yep:

That said, am currently on stock 1.4b and I have deleted the 2-3MB Peak.tga file from your mod because I know that one cripples my PC. I left the other wave mod files in there though.

Similar here. Racerboys mod gave me more FPS. Strange but I'm happy.

End it All 2...this small utility tool is a simple quick fix for freeing up comp systems to just run what ya need for the sim (especially for more low end systems) a side effect is giving less stagger to busy graphics....heres a link for downloading...

good to know. Someone, and I won't say who but they know who they are, said in a post in another thread that it was causing major FPS hits. I found that highly unlikely and just thought I would ask. Sorry for the posts in your thread about this

I had the same problem when i used GWX. That's the problem with mods who wants change to much things in same time ...

Turm 11-04-07 10:20 AM

Well I've never used GWX (but soon...) and I have this problem, so that can't be it. I do have several other small mods installed but don't think they are the cause.

Still need to test the ship-distance theory I mentioned earlier, but haven't had much time to do it. Hopefully later today.
