Yeah, I read some of those, problem there is the age-old "whaddya know already" misfire. Something about ask your navigator what the estimated fuel consumption is and estimated max range at the current speed, that presupposes I know where to find the navigator and how to ask him questions. Only thing I can find is time to waypoint at current speed, no "but we'll run outtta gas before we get there" info.

Well. Press "B" to secure from battle stations, tried that and it takes me to the bridge and into the binoculars view. Shoulda mentioned I have the Direct2Drive version with the 1.3 patch, maybe that makes a difference. One thing I found did work was clicking on the battle stations button again, apparently it toggles between git up and go back to bed. What's needed is a different color with these buttons, light yellow versus lighter yellow it's hard to tell if it's pressed in or lit up even when I squint at it. :stare:

Well, there goes my alzheimers again, whatdahell were we talking about? Aircraft, yeah, I tried to shoot one down once after installing the 1.3 patch that replaced all the clouds and stars with horizon-to-horizon airplanes, I don't think I even made him nervous. Not a big priority for me anyway, in real life subs dived rather than fighting it out on the surface, AAA is really only an emergency last resort. Solved the problem by hacking the aircraft.cfg to INCREASE the enemy air coverage slightly, that was enough to make the skies so full they all had midair collisions and crashed. ;)

Actually I've caught the game with everyone on watch, but GQ not called. I was still on my way out from Pearl. I checked the button which was unlit. I called GQ and then stand down. Set everything right again.

Installing Trigger Maru gives you 'Shift-G' to report max range at current speed. It exists but I don't think it is mapped to a key in the stock game. Also, Trigger Maru remaps many keystrokes, so that may explain the discrepancy.

You get max range at half your maximum speed. In a Balao, for example, 9.5 kts.

On other thing, if your batteries are damaged they may not be able to recharge to a full 100%. If this is the case, the "charge batteries" button will stay on, significantly increasing your fuel usage. You will have to turn it off manually when your battery reaches the maximum charge it can hold.

I found this out the hard way on one of my first missions.:damn:
