I cannot take credit for this, as it came from another forum, but I believe it hits the nail on the head in regards to all of the ridiculous 9/11 conspiracy theories:

"If Osama bin Laden and his Merry Muslim Misfits are responsible, then our government is incompetent. If the government saw it coming and allowed it to happen, or even better, made it happen themselves, then they're evil, but in control. Hell, they're in control to an extent that a non-believer can't even concieve.

It's the same choice we make when bad things happen to good people. You can say God did it for a reason, or you can admit that there's no one in charge and sometimes bad (things) will happen. Weak, fearful people will seek order at any cost, but people of character can accept a little chaos."

That being said, I think a simple "we're thinking of you" going out to the victims and families of the tragedy is the best thing to post.

It's not silly at all, everyone does their own thing.

Did a high altitude flyby in a KLM Boeing 777, then low with all the bells and whistles like those weird speed spoilers

It's all very well remembering it, and I do too since I am now a godparent following the death of one of my friends on that day. But it's also worth remembering that the US policy towards foreign nations did much to bring it about in the first place.

Step on toes and throw your weight about, and this is what happens when people say they aint gonna take it no more. I hope people remember that too.

This is a lie being retold ... this is no where near the truth.

US policy towards foreign nations did not cause the men that Bin Laden recruited to plan and execute the destruction of the twin towers in New York or the damage to the pentagon building or the plane that crashed in Penn or the other two planes that never made it to their intended targets.

This was a Muslim terroist operation designed to warn us to leave the countries of Iraq and Iran alone ... the true intentions of these terroist headed by Bin Laden is to get America to forego the defense of Israel.

They will strike again, they will use the same tactic's of murdering innocent peoples to set in motion the biggest weapon they have ... fear.

I personally was right here on GT on subsim.com waiting for Destroyer Command to be released during the same week. The members at that time were sure that America would find the men responcible for this act of war and remove them from the face of the earth.

I still think this will happen before President Bush leaves office ... one of the reasons America has been left alone for these last six years is due to the agressive stance of our President in the enemies back yard.

Why blow up anything over here and make us have unity to stay over there ...?

Life - brief moment in time, like colourful firework in the sky, unique, ever-changing, never coming back. Light and shadow: the one is nothing without the other, would remain invisible. Darkness - then one sudden glimpse of bright light, and then its over. Beauty - so fragile the only power we have over it is to destroy it.

Grab it - and you loose it, search it - and you don't see it, don't mind - and it does not change anything. It simply is. So free yourself from everything, let go all your blinded thoughts and dark concepts. It is, like it always has been, and always will be. Since you never departed, you must not arrive. Since you lost nothing, you cannot gain anything. Don't think sad for the dead, for what has changed after they died is your perception only - not the reality of what really is.

Sometimes we become aware of this truth. Then time stands still, if only for seconds, and all things in universe freeze in precious balance, and them and us are one. It is in such moments that spans from one end of the universe to the other, when even the gods in Olymp don't dare a single breath, that we could become aware that nothing ever gets lost, and nothing ever was missing, and that we embrace it all, since always. Careless we waste this treasure again, when starting to attach meanings to all things that we see again. No injustice it is if then we suffer pain and sadness from this, self-made. The world is not in disorder. The world just is what it is. It is us not being in order. And things we see just reflect our confused state of mind.

Nobody must go anywhere. We are all - if only we knew - already there, and we never were anywhere else.

So why crying?

I was wondering when a thread would be put up, i was saying to my son yesterday hey its the 11th today you know what that means? Ahh payday for you? No, its 9/11 the day the US got attacked and dont forget it even if we live on the otherside of the world! Hey hes part Jewish what did ya expect! (joke) He seems to remeber more about the guy he nailed online in a FPShooter than the events of the world.

9/11 the day the sleeping giant woke up

Ducimus 09-11-07 04:58 PM

Weee, logging in just to respond to this thread since i knew one would appear here.

I've always had mixed thoughts on Sept 11th.

- I prefer to call it septh 11th, instead of 911 - its putting a spin on the event.

- I have no emotion regarding the event at all. Not one iota. But then, i had alot of practice in the military on how to become desensitized, or pull the emotional plug. Its a defense mechaism. Not everyone has that ability.

- I do however remember where i was, and what i was doing when it happened. Sadley, my only thought was, "i was wondering when something like this was going to happen, i guess now i know". I knew i was watching history in the making on TV, and i think its because it was on TV (as opposed to in my face) that made it easier for me to distance myself from it, and i realized this as i watched it unfold.

- All the conspiracy theorists are full of themselves, and full of ****. "911 an inside job"?! what****ingever, gullible people are sad sacks of **** in their own right. It amazes me they get any "air time" at all. These people need to unass their computer chairs, get off the internet (which is a breeding ground for this crap) and go take part in the real world more.

- I dont have any relatives that died in that building, so my feelings are different, but the reality is, on septh 11th, 2740 Americans were murdered in cold blood by a creative group of fanatical towelheads. They didnt die for freedom, or democracy, or anything other lofty ideal. Point blank, average joes going to office like i do every day, and then they were murdered. There is no sense or reason to be made from it.

- Ive always been split on observing this day. On one hand it would be wrong to not remember the day when 2740 Americans were murdered in cold blood, en mass. On the other hand, the fact that we do, means said whackjobs suceeded in their goals. Every cry of mourning puts a feather in these guys cap. I dislike giving them that satisfaction.

- We still have some muslim whackjob murder's that need to be brought to justice. Every last one needs to be made an example of, without making them maryters.
