Be aware that kernel.dll could have a virus, I would check that out!:x Hopefully you save the mods folder before a format!
Good Luck!

My old PC had a few problems with SHIII that being one of them - I never really put my finger on a fix and it seemed to happen randomly. :damn:

I had tried the latest ATI drivers which only made things worse! If any of you have ATI graphics cards do NOT use the latest drivers - bad mmm k, also caused alot of problems with other games  EDIT: ok looks like ATI has released a new driver since I had my issues. Avoid catalyst 7.7 hopefully 7.8 is better :hmm:

My new pc seems to have no troubles what so ever YAY :arrgh!:

Brag 09-06-07 05:26 PM

Now have trouble installing patch 1.4. I get this on the screen :damn:

Any ideas?

Hi Brag,
Have had that same error before. You have to go through your computer and delete any and all files containing SH3. Then reinstall SH3. Somewhere you have a file that was left over when you uninstalled SH3. That's all this unexpert can tell you. Good Luck my friend............

Yuo mean I gotta kill Balz whom I have hidden in a non SH-3 folder?

Hi Brag,
You've got to have patch 1.04b installed before you load GWX. Your screen shot shows you're trying to upgrade stock version 1.0.

Check Jimbuna's brief again

Good Luck:up:

Good Grief! How did that happen?

Cezbor 09-07-07 01:25 AM

Heil Adm. Brag, do what Jimbuna has instructed. Don't worry about this version problem. Just delete manually all SH3 files from old game directory (including main folder). It happend to me many times, so take it easy and don't worry. If you're not satisfied with all those replays go to forum, there's lots of staff about solving this problem. Usually after every install (the way Jimbuna .....etc.) I superseded new files C:/My dokuments/SH3/career created after instalation or even the whole folder (that's better) with the old one - backed up earlier. Up to now everything works good, .... oh maybe except that annoying "your base has been changed to Kiel" message:damn:

Jimbuna 09-08-07 05:39 AM

@Brag

When you have completed the operation in my previous post up to and including line 4...'- *delete* the \My Documents\SH3 folder '....insert your game disc and prompt it to 'uninstall'....you'll be suprised the amont of files that are still hidden unseen in there.

Now carry on with the remainder of my instructions in my original post

Brag 09-08-07 09:26 AM

Thanks Jimbuna and everyone else. Today is dedicated to fixing this. Will let you know results.

Foghladh_mhara 09-08-07 10:29 AM

It may be Brag that you have delete all files containing any reference to Balz. Its hard to let go I know but I think I speak for everyone here when I say....

WOO HOO!!! :D

Brag 09-08-07 01:29 PM

The triple GRRRRRRRS :damn: :damn: :damn:

On one try got as far as the the GWX installation --it told me I didn't have patch 1.4 installed

cleaned up the whole mess, deleted. Tried to instal 1.4 from Game shadow. Back to what the screenie shows.

The de_help.txt file is a list of commands in German (notice I've learned to find and open files ;) )

I'm at the end of my wits, could I maybe hide or delete this file?

I hope you used the disc in 'uninstall' mode :hmm:

If you did, you should have absolutely nothing, no residue left in your pooter. :nope:

Delete the file if all else fails....what more damage can it do
