1440 works a treat  many thanks l3th4l

I see in the readme that there are supposed to be the green lines, but the mod I downloaded here is grey colored, and I cannot see any of the markings on the scope at night. Any plan for a release to change the scope markings to dark green like it was in v1.2 i believe?

Hate to be a pest so long after the release, but I can't seem to get this thing to work after attempting to scale it up. I don't use adobe,so I cant use the nvidia plugin. I converted it with dds converter v21, scaled it using jasc, converted it back, re-enabled it... and got a solid black scope. Call me braindead, but I'm at a loss here and would really like to get this up to 2560. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

i'll take a look once i'm finished with what i'm doing atm. which is already more than one project ;)
my plan was to actually make the lines all change color from day to night but unfortunately i wasn't able to find a solution to some problems related to this. making them all gray is my attempt to work around some of those problems - once i figured out how to get them all to change color i'll release an updated version. as for scaling the scope up - which part of it do you mean? the scope itself *should* be scaled up automatically by the game; only the bearing indicator seems to be of fixed size and requires some scaling when using a resolution currently not supported... actually it already works, just not as well as intended. |
Sorry for not being specific... The bearing indicator is solid black. I dont know if I pooched something in all the conversions or touched something I shouldn't have in jasc.
(doubled the horizontal pixel count of 1280 file.. tried to clean up the humbers a bit with the pencil tool... pooched) |
tried using the plugin in paintshop pro? it says you can do that here
the problem is that you must have overwritten or deleted the alpha channel. i don't use psp so i can't go into specifics here unfortunately. |
Good guess... my bad! I did mess with alpha channel. Have the kid over my shoulder to keep on the right path this time and it worked. Thanks for your time sir.

I've got a bit of a problem which makes me see nearly double vision :)
http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k1...144151_634.jpg Using 1280 x 800 resolution but have a widescreen monitor. Anyway I can fix this as it is also partially obscured at the top. All other scopes are no probs. |

It looks like l3th4l finally gave (or tried to give) the binocs the right or real world view - that of a circle - vice the traditional game device where the binoc view is represented as a sort of figure 8 laid sideways. I hope he or someone can come up with a way to fix this. JD |
haven't seen that before... seems like when using widescreen only part of the screen actually gets rendered...
to confirm - could you take a screenshot with the default binocs please? this will probably be a pain in the arse because i can't test resolutions like that myself and a lot of the work *is* trail and error... but i see what i can come up with. don't expect anything tomorrow though as i'm currently rather busy with RL and ROW after that. |

Here's a link to a previous post that contains a screenie of my default binocs.... http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...&postcount=689 Note it still has the sideways figure 8 configuration, but no double vision rings. A comment you made got me thinking though... are the hi res/wide screen folks the only ones seeing the binoc and TBT representations as a sideways figure 8, or does everyone see that? I was assuming everyone, but something you said made me think that some are seeing it as a circle, like the periscope representations. Is that true? JD |
just a quess but the black line at top is to do with widescreen at 1280x800 it wont display properly at 60 hz the text messes up ect on certain monitors, but i dont see any line on mine at 1280x768 or 1280x800, the desktop is at 1440x900, 60hz. you may want to try your desktop refresh overide rate, sync it to same as ingame mode. im sure i had this problem a while back before i started running in 1440x900, and im sure i got round it by going down to 1280x768 and altering the refresh rate plus a a few edits in the 1024_768.ini ,but it was a some time ago so im not 100% sure what the edits were now.
as for the figure 8 if you look at the dds i think its deliberatly done to give the effect of your eyes being in the uzo & binoculars. however i used to get no end of complaints from ati users when i modded for cs, yet all the nvidia users were pleased as punch. as i used to make and test my stuff using a nvidia chipset graphics card ,and the ati cards rendered completly differantly. this may be the case here. ie it was compiled and tested in ati and gave no annomalies yet under nvidia graphics ingame it does,or vice versa. |
mhh - i'm not sure i'm understanding correctly...
that "figure 8" should be there by design... did you want that gone? i thought you were talking about the black strip along the top of the screen?? whenever i make a new version of this i'll try to come up with something more convincing... (while still giving the visual clue that you're looking through the binocs) |

they want the figure 8 gone i think because its showing up too much ingame. personally i like it. as for the black line they both have it in theyre screenies but i think theyre not too bothered bothered by it, though it was mentioned in the initial post about the figure 8. the figure 8 i suspect is a graphics engine rendering issue, mine isnt half as obvious as theyre screenshots seem to show. |
Well, if you're asking what *I* would prefer... :)
I'd prefer that it look like it really looks when looking through binocs... circular. Never could figure out why they did that figure 8 thing.... here in SH4 or in the movies. But it's not that big a deal. I'd use your mod regardless... I think the lens and cross hairs look great. I wouldn't want to even ask for something like that unless a large number of people agreed and thought it was important. The double circle thing in the binocs and TBT though....? That's got to go :) RE the dark area at the top of the screen. No one seems to have any idea how to get rid of that... short of dropping down to some lower resolution. JD |
