What I have in mind is impossible in IL2. An reflective aluminium skin with black nose, wingtips & rudder. ;)

But I'll try to find a few candidates, skin them and show them to you.

Mmm....If I'm correct one of the P47's skins is reflective aluminium?
or am wrong in this.

I'm at work now so I cant check it out.

You're wrong. It's an illusion, what I mean is a reflective skin that really reflects. Or even mimics it by having a "moving texture" on it like you see on sniper rifle's scopes in some games.

IL2 doesnt support reflective textures.

Wouldnt it look nice? :)

:o Drool!

that indeed would look very pretty!

Ok, I'm currently testing a method I just came up with to add reflective look to the Blue & Yellow skins we have now. The results have been... umm... rather interesting. :p At the moment, the skin looks like it have been coated with Dragon skin. :rotfl:

Okie, I think I'm getting somewhere here. The illusion of reflective surface has been earlier done via manually painting the skin with dodge & burn tools. This can be kinda tricky for some who have their thumb somewhere else than on their hand (like me). Sooo, what I did was, that I used 'Diffuse Glow' & 'Plastic Wrap' filters of Photoshop to make the skin VERY bright. By scaling down the opacity of the filter layers, I came up with kinda shiny metallic look. I only tested this with the blue P40M SS skin we have, but I think that by making the base color of the plane to medium grey, the two filters would make it look just like aluminium. :hmm:

Anyways, here's a shot of the P40M.

Can you not use an Alpha channel to add a shine on IL2 planes? I was under the impression you could, but it's a long time since I did an IL2 repaint, so maybe I'm mistaken.
