would tell you those are long odds and way too risky. Better to play it safe and live to fight another day.... JIM |
Doesn't it strike you as odd that everyone wants a total real game
but plays it like there's no tomorrow! Reality is as reality does.... JIM |

In SH3 I could set TDC to zero speed and take a shot from the hip and had a prayer with magnetic... maybe 10% if we're honest.
In SH4... forget it... DIVE! By the time I readjusted the stupid position keeper the destoyer's keel would be halfway cross my deck. I'm waiting for the anti-position keeper TDC mod. :yep: |

I just haven't had much luck with the PK allowing me to look-down-shoot-down. Yeah OK... maybe you can rig the PK for a straight shot, but I wanna use my scope wire again. |

@USS_shipmaster
I usually do not use TDC in this case - because it absolutely useless Of couse DDs know where I am with let say 70 % certaincy therefore I am under attack. I am using salvo with 5-10 angle difference when I m shooting my 3 torpedoes this might be part of the problem uss, i think your spreads are alittle to wide, and i'm asuming your talking about a down the throat shot. i looked at this in sh3, and its easier in sh3, i got on collison course with closing dd, bow to bow, then fired one torpedo straight out, 0 AOB, the dd will see or hear it coming, and take evasive action, this is what im waiting for, his ecasive maneuvers, once he started with his EM, my torpedoes set to 2 degree spread, left shoot, then right shoot, he'll smash right into one of them. the dd just wants to get out of the way of the first torpedo, turning just enough to make it miss, then he'll hard charge back to you. this is a very risky maneuver for a submarine, and expends to much ammunition, but, it is just a game, so have fun. by the way, what do you think, do you think roger clements will go into the hall of fame as a red sox or yankee? |
Real arming distance was 450 yards, so if it's 600 yards away and closing at high rate, there is no way the fish gets there before it arms unless at the start of said scenario you already had a solution and the doors open.
Of course in the stock game the arming distance is reduced to 220m for some inexplicable reason (perhaps that was what it was for german torpedos?). tater |
1)be sure to have 2 torpedoes set at high speed in your aft torpedo tubes.
2)"run off" in a straight line away from the DD on low speed 3)wait untill he is almost on top of you and hit him with 1 or 2 torpedoes set for contact 4)lower periscope 5)flank speed and 35° to left or right 6)"dive!dive!dive! to about 150 feet 7)hear the bastard die:arrgh!: |
Thanks gents!

I like both kind of football ,classic european and american rugby. I like Patriots and Giants( last one because its from a place I live). But I m still a rookie even in the company of expert fans of american football ( I started to understand and love it only 3 years ago, thanks to a friend who invited me to drink beer during playing NFL on PS2 :-) ). |

welcome aboard the uss america, glad to have you here! i'm hoping roger goes in as a yankee, i watch both games when he struck out 22 batters in two games, i think that was about the best pitching a ever saw. after the bull sox management sold off rick burelson, fred lynn, and carlton fisk in 75 or 78, that was it for me with the red sox, they were a team i loved. i thought that team of red sox in 75 or 78, was as good as the 1927 yankees, but once they destroyed the team by selling off those players, i became a yankee fan, and all i want to see now is the yankee's blowing away the red sox, game after game after game, no mercy. they did the same with roger and the babe.:nope: |
Make some noise, so the DD heads right for you, set the torp at 0 feet, line up straight twards or away from the DD. Open the door, and wait until 500 yards, and cut one loose, crash dive and make a 90' turn. Rince and repeat.
