Yes, the work uniforms in SH4 are very good. My avatar is of some sailor at sea, and he's dressed just like that.:rotfl:

Do you think they can add . . . the fixes to the Officers and Chiefs hats to the new patch that is coming up? I say this, as I have never used any mods for a game before, and am weary to do so, as the game appears to be very fickle in the first place.

This is the mod that does this , using JSGME ( mod enabler ) is easy once you get onto it.

Yah, saw that link uptop . . . but will it become part of the official patch? And will it still take effect after we download 1.3?

1) no
2) yes (but you'll have to deactivate the mod first and then activate it once again). I'm sure CC will make this mod 1.3 compatible.

OK I downloaded the Mod enabler, and the .rar file, but can't seem to access the .rar file. Sorry if this is a N00b question . . . but I have never used Mods before.

Use WinRar or a similar program to unpack the *.rar file. Inside you should find a folder named after the mod. Move that folder into your MODS folder within your SH4 install directory.

If you haven't run JSGME run it before doing that, also on the JSGME panel use Tasks.. and take a snapshot before you do anything. Running it creates the MODS folder.

Once the named mod folder you pulled from the RAR is in the MODS folder run JSGME again. You'll see the name of the mod and just click the --> arrow to move it to the right side and activate the mod.

Let us know if you have problems with any of that.

Thanks, it works, minus the fact that my XO is wearing Ensign pins. Guess no one ever requisishened him any railroad tracks. I wonder if they will ever bring sleeve rating patches?

If you check here
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=114461
there is a version with the "Rank/Insignia" mod that has "Lieutenant.Cmdr"

If you use this however you might want to use the standalone "US NAVY HAT" mod. So to put it plainly, use the
http://files.filefront.com/OFFICER_RANKS_INSIGNIA_11rar/;7499432;/fileinfo.html
and
http://files.filefront.com/US_OFFICER_HAT_MOD_10rar/;7632419;/fileinfo.html

I might add a "Higher Ranks/Hat/Texture" mod later today..after work that is ;)

the_belgian 05-30-07 12:28 PM

I change the crew uniform-back according to the logo i put on the side of the sub( http://img235.imageshack.us/img235/6...5200711au4.jpg ).For the moment it's;

OMG, CaptainCox has been at sea too long :rotfl:

How does that Village People song go? "In the Navy ..."

popeye 05-31-07 01:24 AM

i usually wear clothes when i play silent hunter. sometimes i play naked. if i get up in the middle of the night, and its hot...

ahoy, there.

Mudrik 06-01-07 07:14 AM

I appreciate that I'm a little late with this but holy crap, the village people pic really gave me a good laugh. Is he wearing chaps with his arse hanging out? (it'd be a scary sight for the planesmen).

What we need next is the cowboy, indian, policeman etc in the control room. Or how about a full on gimp suit? This could keep me laughing for days.

On a more serious note about uniform, I agree with the comments regarding work wear, you sure as hell wouldn't wear your number 1s during combat. Perhaps the next uniform mod should have sweat stains, dirt and grime on the uniforms of the crew?

EDIT:- Just found this - http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=115623

so much for my idea for sweaty, dirty shirts. Well done again capt cox
