Just to put things straight, DW is not a mixture of janes fleet command and improved 688i.
It is something completely different, the only game that has revolutionised the modern/contemporary simulation naval game , although it is too hard core to appeal to the masses.
Dw is a tactical, ASW simulation that lets you play in a real 3D integrated naval battlespace in single player and multiplayer.
It has excellent multiplayer features, multistation (that means you can have several players on the same unit), you can have cooperative missions, etc... and a really really good mission editor.
The only thing it lacks is a dynamic campaign, but for the type of missions you play, a dynamic campaign would be too constraining.

Sh5=Mediterranean with allied boats.Various navies operated the UK S,T and U classes including the Greeks,Poles and Russians during WW2 so a lot of appeal to a wide audience.Lots of scope for special operations and some nice targets(Italian battleships)

...and plenty of aircraft!
 

Of course the mediteranean theatre will be marred by air attacks. At least we won't have to wonder where those airplanes came from :-)

Problem is that the life span of the campaign will be relatively short. It starts to pick up at the end of 1940 and by mid 1943 it is pretty much over after the invasion of Sicily and Italy. So, only 2.5 years to look for tonnage.:hmm:
