Mine is not a very different opinion than what's been already voiced here. I don't really think we're gonna see a SH V from Ubi, as long as they are taking a lot of time to even fix the current "superstar" of the series. And especially as they resorted to publicity stunts like "People, if you want it fixed, then cast your vote on the Ubi forum and show them how much you really want this patch." And this is only about fixing what's broken.
Or asking players to post, on the same forum, what's still wrong with the game. Like they can't read the zillions of posts here or their own forum to see what doesn't work. When SH3 was released, yes, there were a lot of problems, but patches were regularly released until the game was brought to a playable state. Nobody then talked about devs taking a long and well-deserved holiday, such as it happened now. They just kept working on it. Now, the patching was interrupted for reasons like "devs gone fishing" or "cast your vote and beg Ubi to make the patch." In my eyes, this shows a decreasing commitment to the series and is equivalent to "No other SH game". I really hope I'm wrong and I'll make a public apology for being pessimistic the very moment Ubi will announce a new installment in the series. |

Thank You jimbuna  I was just about to ask some of these's kaluens what they were smokeing when I saw your post.:p It was the only one that made sence and a very small maybe after the SH4 fiasco. As for this site being hurt that is crazy and i'm glad you saw it didn't deserve a response. |
A lot of folks are saying the PC Market is dead in general.
But, with Vista you need a Dx10 Capable Graphics cards, so according to Microsoft anyway, there will be 100 million gaming PC's in the next year. Maybe, there will be small independent developer that can step in and make us a great game. Look at what Battlefront and ThirdWire have done for wargaming/simming with very small development teams. I guess all we can do it wish for the best. |
SH5 on a DX10? And maybe with a CryTEK engine?:hmm:
That is an option worth considering...:|\\ And support for SLI/Crossfire...:arrgh!: All interrior compartments.... Every sound available... Crew interaction... A wild imagination...:ping: |
More importantly.. will we see Destroyer command 2?

You know what, I wouldn't be surprised to see a "Silent Hunter Complete Edition" in the same vane as "IL2 Complete Edition".
In other words, I wouldn't be surprised to see SH3 and SH4 combined in one package at some point. You can see with SH4 that the file structure for SH3 is pretty much preserved. But no SH5, not in the foreseeable future anyway. What's left to do? British, Dutch or Japanese subs? Unfortunately, these would be a niche of a niche. Perhaps there'll be a gap the same as there was between SH1 and SH4 before we see anything new, which will most likely be an updated U-boat-based simulation. |
Sometimes I wonder why there has to be a WWII? Why not post-wwii? Whatever the case, I recommend:
1. 2 campaigns, 2 sides of war, if has to be wwii, then US and GER 2. More interriors, more sounds 3. more crew interactions 4. more animations 5. Pixel shader 2.0/3.0 6. Support for dual-cores 7. more eye-candy 8. instead on focusing on protections, work on game stability.... I know this looks like a wish-list, but this is what/how I think... |

:-? It's possible, mate.... As soon as the SH4 final patch becomes available, the GWX team will start working on GWX conversion to SH4 : and hopefully it will allow us to switch between the two campaigns, american and german side of the war.

Looks like UBI is seeing the SH series as a "make-money-fast" scheme, but clearly it is not working anymore as thay had expected. Maraz |

I'd love to play SH as a Japanese sub commander. I hope UBI will release an add-on where you can switch sides. Or they do SH V playing the Japanese navy.
