Just tried again to make sure I was not imagining things and the green torpedo fire buttons do not fire torpedoes when pressed, that is on a paid for legal copy of SH4, patched up to 1.2. I have a few mods installed, but nothing which should impact this.

I had this happen once. I forgot to turn off battle stations and my whole crew went to sleep.

I considered the fact they might be Lazy

I thought the same thing , but upon checking to see if the Scurvy Dawgs were lolly gagging about, I found them diligent in standing their watch or attending to battle stations, but your right, if you send them to battle stations , and then forget about them eventually they will all go to sleep until you click them off battle stations, and then reconstitute the battle stations order, then they wake back up , its actually pretty cool to watch all the little Z's dissappear.
And I forget that alot of the personnel on here do not enjoy the same freedoms that we do here in America, forgive my tyrate, and my heart felt condolances go out to whome ever you are .

erm ok
im not being rude but

Qoute "the green torpedo buttons do not fire when pressed " end qoute

i would hope not. those are the tube selection buttons, you highlight a green tube, and that is the torp that will fire when you press the big red button above the torpedo tubes selection lights ( green ones) or you press enter.

are you selecting the green lights ( tubes) thinking that is what fires the torpedoes, because if you are that is your problem right there :)

no issue of rudeness here. I always press enter, so I did not bother about the issue before.

I will have to look at the torpedo tube slide out panel again, but I dont remember a big red fire button, just the torpedo tubes selection buttons (which are green when the tube is loaded) and the target lock button, of course it would not be the first time that I played a game for months without noticing an important feature. :o

However, I believe that in 1.1, the tubes would fire when you pressed the torpedo selection buttons.

humm, i didnt play 1.1 for long, but it shouldnt have launched them, it should only highlight the tube you want to fire from.

anyways

just above the 10 green lights :) that should fire your fish. the thing that sticks out above the forward tubes

Don't ever touch that BIG RED BUTTON! :rotfl:

I wonder how many "My Torps won't fire!" threads are either related to the copy protection or to people pressing the green buttons. :rotfl:

To be honest, that red button - albeit BIG - doesn't really look so much like a button, but rather like some attachment where the panel is "mounted" on, especially with that screw in it. The very first shot I fired in SHIV, I also thought the individual tube buttons would do that and clicked on them to fire - when I realized nothing happened, I thought "Hey dude, maybe it's that big red gizzmo up there you gota hit!" :rotfl:Oh yeah, but before that, I also gave the periscope lock button a try lol.

What is funny, up in the control room at the torpedo control box on the wall to the right as you are looking at the sonarman and scopes, you can see the same red buttons and I believe these will fire torps also.

The Large Red Button changes when you roll over it

The large red button I thought changed to a brighter color when you rolled your mouse over it ?
I never had that issue of not knowing which button to press, I suspect if you have never played a Silent hunter sub sim you would not know the red buton or enter fires the torps .

Oh yeah they work alright. :yep:

But you leave the green ( and red lights here ) alone. That red button sure seems obvious for a fire button.

In the control room you press the T key and highlight your torps to fire useing the W key. Say it's like this pic and #1 just fired, press the big red button again for #2,#3 etc.,or from whatever highlighted # tube ( T key ) you started from, top to bottom of bow tubes to top to bottom of stern tubes. Whew, working up a sweat here. :rotfl:
