U-Boat 977, by Heinz Schaeffer. He describes his experiences from being a junior officer on his first patrol to his amazing voyage to Argentina and subsequent accusations of smuggling Hitler and/or stolen gold along with him. Great book.

For probably everything you can think of, peruse this thread:

Vast niet! De meeste boeken over dit onderwerp hebben geen Nederlandse vertaling...

johan_d 05-15-07 04:31 PM

Godver!, dacht het wel!

Books

U Boat Ace (story of Wolfgang Luth) by J. Vause and U Boats at War (a first hand account of a U boat sailor) by H. Busch are both good, too.

A lot of inspiration already...this is gonna cost a load of money!

Not neccessarily; have a look around here:

You'll find most of the listed books for a very low price.

The price of the books is right for sure...only the shipping costs from the US to here (Netherlands) are rather high....

But I have spotted some stores in the Uk that look interesting....

Thanks Sailor!

Amazon.com has these books and more at great prices. As soon as the book hits my mailbox I order another because by the time it arrives I'm usually done with the one I just got.
