Ensign Charlie Parker was a character in the US series and film McHale's navy...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McHale's_Navy
He was played by Tim Conway and was a bumbler so kind of an American Bernard.

I noticed that if I 'free cammed' around Pearl Harbor, there is the sound of a ship sinking coming from one of the warehouses on shore....

Dinsdale is from a Monty Python Flying Circus sketch who believed a fifty foot high hedgehog was on the look out for him which was true, the hedgehog was spiny Norman of the yard.
