Contacts spawn in relationship to the player, rather than the player going to find targets.
It should be tweaked so captains who can conserve fuel, and spend the most time at sea, have the best chance for contacts. As I baseline, I would say about a 7% chance per day of a merchant contact. Modified for Date, Time of Day, Weather, Location, and whether or not the uboat (or its wolfpack) has been spotted. If they are aware of your presence, there would be an increased chance of a warship or aircraft contact. Contacts should spawn in at the maximum possible range of currently active center. This would correct the hydrophone MEGACHEAT, that has kept most kaluens from getting realistic tonnage since Silent Service II. Contact should be moving on random course and appear at random bearing. |
Maybe this is too far-fetched, but wouldn't it be great just to have a sim run perfectly right out of the box? ;) Rather than :damn:
Getting back to something more realistic: how about seeing the torpedo reload process from the external deck compartment? Naturally this could only work with the boat stopped, in calm waters. Getting surprised by aircraft (esp. Serbuto's) would take on a whole new level of terror. :o |
see number 4 in the original post... i think that would be fantastic!

1. Wolfpacks
2. Wolfpacks 3. Wolfpacks In other words, AI U-boats that fire torpedoes and spawn when you are near a convoy. I`m happy with GWX, but I really miss this feature, My honeymoon with SH4 is over. I`m getting bored with the Pacific. When you get both the SD/SJ radar there is zero challenge. |
