Twelve as a mysthic and mythological number is quite interesting:

in 12 are the first two numbers (1 and 2) (resambles something like like yin and yang)

in 12 there are the first three numbers (1+2=3)

in 12 are the first four numbers - the numbers of the Tetraktys (12 = 3*4 -> (1+2+3+4) = 10 (malkuth)

12 has more dividers then the numbers before (1,2,3,4,6,12). That may the reason it was choosen as a basic number for systems ( hours on the clock, months in the year)

Old masons had a rope which was divided in 12 parts. If you bild a triangel from it with side-lenghts of 3,4,5 you get a right angle.

The gnostics emanation knowed 12 aeons.

12 signs on the zodiac - in China and in the West

12 book of judges, 12 prophets, 12 tribes of israel (from 12 sons of Jakob)
the jewish high-priest had 12 emeralds on his pentacel
12 disciples of Jesu, 12 apostel
12 fruits on the Tree of Life
12 stars in crown of Marie
12 gates of Jerusalem

12 Imams of the Shia Islam

12 titans of the greeks
12 gods in the pantheon
12 Rays of Light from the crown of Sun-god Apoll
12 children of earth-goddess Niobe
12 labors for Heracles

12 gods in the pantheon of Rom (and the Etrusks and Hethits)
12 altars for Janus (one of the oldes of the gods)

12 halls of aesirs in Asgard
12 companions of Siegfried
12 knights on the Table of King Arthur in Camelot
12 paladins of Emperor Karl the Great

etc, etc....

jumpy 04-19-07 04:02 AM

lol, boy, do I feel silly now :arrgh!:

Smaragdadler 04-19-07 04:22 AM

No need to feel silly - you are just ... a f00l.

Sometimes the fool is the only one, who says it right.

There is a thin line between a fool and a prophet.
Some people say there is no line.
And there are those who think that in Gods heart - there is a fool....

Argh! it's all true hehe
along with the rabbi, can we have seers, farseers and withinlookmen?

That guy looks prety carefree, in a kind of 'puss in boots' sort of way.
I take it that's a tarrot card then?

Smaragdadler 04-19-07 05:03 AM

I knew you are smart.

Tarot is a pictural representation of the cabbalistic system by the way...

12,000 is a (cabalistic) sum.

No. It's some Christian sum, with no basis in Kabalah, at least according to the Wikipedia link you posted.
What does this picture have to do with anything, other than referring to a totally unrelated Kabalistic matter, the Ten Sefirot? :know:

Yes but you were the one that said the sum is Kabalistic.

EDIT: Reminder, the Christian video is based on a Jewish Psalm, plus the prayer is for Israel, a Jewish nation. But no matter.

That makes an association between Tarot and Egyptian mythology. Once again, nothing to do with Kabalah. :nope:

It's all true. :D

Madame Sosostris, famous clairvoyante,
Had a bad cold, nevertheless
Is known to be the wisest woman in Europe,
With a wicked pack of cards. Here, said she,
Is your card, the drowned Phoenician Sailor,
(Those are pearls that were his eyes. Look!)
Here is Belladonna, The Lady of the Rocks, The lady of situations.
Here is the man with three staves, and here the Wheel,
And here is the one-eyed merchant, and this card,
Which is blank, is something he carries on his back,
Which I am forbidden to see. I do not find
The Hanged Man. Fear death by water.
I see crowds of people, walking round in a ring.
Thank you.
