Refer to the text file \Silent Hunter Wolves of the Pacific\Data\Roster\names.cfg for the list of ship types that the game recognizes, the MS13 is a Type5=Minesweeper. But, you need it to be some other type, and Type0=Patrol Craft will work for what you want. Pls note, don't edit names.cfg, just refer to it to learn the types. To make this modification, edit the text files \Silent Hunter Wolves of the Pacific\Data\Roster\Japan\Sea\MSNO13.cfg as well as \Silent Hunter Wolves of the Pacific\Data\Sea\NMS_No13\NMS_NO13.cfg and modify UnitType=5 to read UnitType=0 Voila, the MS13 can be added to your Random Generated Groups as an escort. Making the changes to these text files will probably mess you up come patch time, so back up the originals first. |
I guess I assumed that it might actually have a minsweeping capability and didn't want to foul it up. The only other possible issue would be that the "GENERIC Patrol" stuff would pull minesweepers as well. Mine layers were also used in an ASW role (they had DC racks).

I made a lot of changes to the convoy files and added more Minekazes, Minesweepers and the occasional Minelayer, and from 1944 on Subchasers.
Feels much nicer to get pasted by the real ships... In exchange for the Minesweepers/layers now being type 0, I made the medium and small gunboats type 5. Now they should only appear on scripted missions and not be randomly selected for ASW groups. |

Cool. That makes sense, those gunboats at sea are absurd.
