http://www.mobygames.com/game/sea-rogue I'd be very tempted - but not with Ubi. Almost anybody else I'd be interested, but Ubi....I don't think I could stand the pain (again)! r. |

I think we should do it ourselves... there were working sh2 mods where you could control the bismarck.....all they did was change the max depth to like 0 so it wouldnt dive, and rigged it so the main guns fired when you gave the engage with deckgun command, why hasnt anyone tried this yet? put a sub's interior into a bb, ca, or even the schnellboote, cmon!

theres already one called Battlestations Midway made by eidos games.
you can be submarines battleships airplanes supposedly a good game havent played it myself but it looks wicked http://www.battlestations.net/ |
Battlestations Midway is to SH4 as Doom is to Operation Flashpoint.

I'd love to see a surface based naval sim in the WW2 time frame.
And yes, I have tried the adversarial mode with some of my squad mates. Once fixed it will be quite fun and more tense than the campaign mode IMHO. But for now it is a loosing propsition for the convoy commander. No sonar or hydrophones are available for the surface group, and the AI ships often do not respond to commands. |

Enigma: Rising Tide is a much better one if you can stick the alternate history timeline (which is actually quite fun). |
Why don't they do a "Destroyer Command 2" :damn: Or an improved concept of this :sunny:

As Kiwi2005 pointed out, Battle Stations Midway is the most recent surface battle sim. More arcade than sim but I really enjoy it on my 360. The multiplayer option is the best. |
Would you believe I still play it
Task Force 1942 was absolutely phenomenal for it's time. I still play it occasionally, along with Fighting Steel Project.
My mouth just salivates at the thought of commanding the Graf Spee or the Bismarck as an ocean raider or battling it out against the RN heavies. The SH4 game engine is clearly capable of doing that - they already have the ships, the ocean engine, the trajectory dynamics, ALl that would be needed would a set of control screens (firing directors, bridge, torpedo stations, aa stations) to get a working combat sim. Tie that together with the work alreadying being done in Uboat missions around controlling external resources and bam! |
I agree it's really time for a surface sim. I'd hope to see Destroyer Command 2, or a Sailship / Pirate sim, with the Silent Hunter engine. But you don't know whats going on in their minds, it seems lately a lot of folks in the industry wants to let PC gaming die. So it's possible they will order UBI Romania do churn out more samey stuff for the Consoles instead of letting them do what they can do best.

I would buy it.
