n=70 = 60% option 1&2 and now, n=78 = 60% option 1&2 Might be time to get your maths corrected! :D Don't try to give it a twist, John. I really only wanted people's opinions on the technical state of the sim, note that I did not rate and commented on the sim neither in this thread, nor in any other thread - I simply do not know it, not even from a demo. I only want to avoid to spend a full100% price on something that again leaves me with many months of waiting for getting it into shape, like other games of the past have done. I have become cautious and not being driven by a yearning to buy at all costs. I learned just 6-8 weeks ago about how to get my old original DVD of SH3 running without Starforce, and now have just dived into GWX. Becasue of this lacking info SH3 was shelved over here for a very long time, since soon after the last patch came out. You see, I could happily let SH4 wait for some months or longer and be happy with SH3 - whioch plays like an almost new game for me. P.S. n=84, still 60% http://smileys.sur-la-toile.com/repo...angue/0003.gif |
Yup.. you are right. I thumbed the keyboard and it should have read 61%.
But the point remains that you are the one twisting things. 61% give it a thumbs up and you translate that into ""UBI has some serious work to do". Of course you are not factoring in the number of people who were complaining that their stolen copy had bugs that were intentionally there, or the inherent tendancy of gamers to have impossibly high expectations about a product. You also seem to overlook the fact that there is a wide variety of opinions on this forum about what is wrong with the game (leaving aside the real problems). There is a debate going on elsewhere that the damage control is too realistic and non-intuitive. While this opinion is purely subjective it does not stop someone who hasn't taken the trouble to spend the time to learn the game (and yes... the manaul leaves a lot to be desired... sort of like the manual we all received when we were born) from popping in here and turning their subjective opinion into a negative vote. But from your spin you seem to have had your mind made up before posting, so all I can tell you (from a position of personal knowledge), after spending about 80 hours with various versions, it is your loss. Needed another option imo. Voted great potential, but would have added "but it is an unfinished game - will require a lot of work to make it great", needs polishing does not show that this game is greatly unfinished.

I honestely do think that if 2 of 5 customers, 40%, rank a game's status as "mixed bag with too many issues", "feel like a beta-tester, will stay with the predecessor for the time being of the long time to come" or "would never buy it again", this is a bit too huge a minority to ignore it or play it down. Also, this forum attracts people with a certain ammount of "determination" :) to like subsims. If you read open forums, or the UBI forums, or game sites about SH4, you will see that a greater percentage of players as is present here is attacking SH4. I don't want to start anything, I just say this because somehow I managed to get your crosshairs cenrtred on me. If people here like SH4, fine, but keep in mind that by it's nature this forum maybe is not representative for the majoirty os SH4 customers out here. you do not come here if you are not tending to see yourself as a subsim hardcore fan, in one way or another. I am aware of the copy protection system degrading graphics in case of copied games. It has been explained an almost all forums where I red about SH4. And of course I refered this poll only to honest customers. Necessarily I must take it for granted that in this community the vast majority of voices heared are from honest people, why should I care to participate here if I think the majority here is priates only? Would be unreasonable. If you refer to many of them being pirates and voting accordingly, I think you owe it to the public to proove that statement. Else it is an offending of many honest customers here. It's like the generalization that all people that resisted to Starforce where interested in pirating software.. And finally I explained clearly why I was doing this poll. It was no anti-SH4-agenda, it was no trouble-seeking attempt ( I was very much looking forward to SH4, but at the same time was concerned about the state in wich it may be released, that'S why I didn't pre-ordered it. I violated this my own rule of checking first before paying with Medieval 2 - and promptly got burned again). It was to help me funding my opinion on wether to buy now, or not. For the same reason I had asked about the secuROM some days ago, I do not know it and wanted to avoid buying something like Starforce again. I got some info I asked for, and some not, and left it at that. Maybe you haven't forgiven me that I critised DW so unforgivingly for the ridiculously slow repairs of theirs, or you and me have different thoughts on what a bug is people can live with, and what not, or you feel personally confronted by me for not illustrating the same love for submarines as a hobby by willingly paying every price demanded - no matter what kind of quality I get for it. But I am not you, simply that, and that's why I must not see these things the same way like you. I have come to my conclusions, I will stay with SH3/GWX for months to come, and check back SH4 after the next let'S say two patches. I got what I wanted from this poll. For the board's sake could we leave it like that, please? I am by far not that evil trouble-seeking propagandist that you indirectly try to describe me as. And if you like SH4, fine for you. I do not complain about your love for it. Note that nowhere I attacked SH4, or attacked UBI. I do not comment on SH4, neither here, nor in any other thread. Maybe you want to stop pointing finger at me, then!? |
