I noticed that when the sub reaches a certain feet, the crew disappears like the beginning of a dive. I wonder if the Dev's limited the wave riding performance to reduce crew members disappearing all of the time. :hmm:

The boat behaviour in swell is not nearly as realistic as in SHIII. I was kinda hoping we'd see an improvement as watching a sub punching through heavy seas was one of my favourite pastimes. I was really disappointed to see the boat come completely out of the water with no resultant plunge downward. Hope someone somewhere knows how to fix this.

Not only a problem surfaced
Hi
I subscribe to this and it is not only an issue when you're surfaced. I notice that when submerged at periscope depth in heavy seas my whole conning tower resurfaces/becomes visible in the trough of a wave. Very odd and I also do not know (although I do have a suspicion) whether that means that destroyers can visibly see you (you're visibly visible, but the in game depth meter says you're at 60 feet). |
I can tell you in SH3 doing over 65-knots, the boat would porpouse in and out of the water. Anything over that speed and it would go under every other jump. In SH4, there is none of that...I have been over 100knots and not a thing...like its on glass.

I think this problem was addressed in RFB. By changing the wave attenuation value in the cfg. , the subs no longer fly out of the water in rough weather (at least that's what I'm seeing so far), but rather they slice through it more naturally.
I agree that the pitch and roll motion definitely needs work. |
