Great work CaptainCox!

You'd think that with SHIII mirror problem with some of the emblems for U-Boats, that they would've fixed this with SHIV. :-?

Again...great work!

Very nice work! This reminds me of a early SH4 screenshot where I saw a simalar skin, with teeth. I was excited that it might be like the SH3 symbles, but I guess it never made it in the game.

Mechman 03-26-07 11:27 PM

I was hoping for the sharkteeth after seeing the movie as well.

Tigrone 03-27-07 01:04 AM

That is too cool.

I did not know any boat was painted so. I'm sure someone made them paint it over later on, but it was neat for a while. Where any other boats done up?

Crosseye76 03-27-07 01:48 AM

A few were, with scoreboards and such. Mostly late in the war. There are a few good photos of some Pearl harbor boats just after the war was over with paint jobs. They did not take them on patrol, but it looks good for screenshots and stuff anyway. :D

Many boats had big numbers painted in the conning towers, problem is one can"t do that in SH4 as the numbers gets reversed on the other side of the tower due to mirroring.

You know what would be cool? Move the shark´s mouth to where the holes are! So, when the boat surfaces, it looks like the water is coming from the sharks mouth!

Cpt-Blaubär 03-27-07 08:52 AM

u go to be kidding me, the americans really had that boat in the pacific war? thats crazy, wasnt it easier to spot it due to the red painting?

CaptainCox 03-27-07 12:21 PM

Yea :p I thought that to...but they had to remove all "art" stuff towards the end of 44.

To the best of my recollection, I used to be able to see their many archived pictures.
I even tried right clicking and show picture but that does not work.
I am using IE. Any clues on how I can view pictures on this great archive site?

EDIT...
NEVER MIND!!
I found the problem.
It was in my Zone Alarm settings.

I love the work you have done, and I use it. I just don't think they went to sea with it painted on though. But I'll still keep using it on my boat anyway.

 Sweet bro, great work. Ya I couldn't believe it when I first saw that pic many years ago. Very cool.

That is a top skin! You've done the pictures proud, looks exactly the same, except the dive planes, but that's an engine limitation, not a modder limitation.

I'm really impressed! :)

Nice work, nice to have options:up:

The reversal of textures in SH4's skins seems to be the same problem we had in B17 Flying Fortress "The Mighty 8th". The tail and fuselage numbers were always reversed on the B17s when new skins were made. I can't remember the fix but there was one at one time. Maybe Beery remembers and can tell the skin makers how to do it.
