If I run IL2 in high resolution it give me a headache attempting read dials and see far off dots. Perhaps the widescreen is stretching the game to fit. I really do not know:hmm:

Hmm, I dont have IL2 but I own Falcon4AF and I think in F4 1600x1200 is much more superiour than 1024x768. In F4AF you do not have problem reading the dials. There are different sets of 2D artwork depending on resolution. Its easy to see the mig in 1600x1200 but with 1024x768 you are having much harder time...

Anyway, F4 is quite old and this is about the modern build simulation SH4. I think we will see what it brings us very soon! I hope for the best!

I do not have the game either.

I so hope we are wrong, but I`m getting depressed. (Must learn not to join hype!:damn:)

I hope we are wrong and some option switch was not hit or checked for widescreens or any screens for that matter. I plan on getting the game and see what I see. Besides, let the modder have at it. The original SH3 hit my shelf in about a month. I have not stopped playing it since GWX fiddle with it.

Lets cut the crap. He's dissappointed and pissed off because the game didnt meet his expectations out of the box. So now he's raising a big F'ing stink about it because he's angry. Come on, The "do not buy SH4 Thread UbiSoft Sucks!!" ?!

I've seen that crap alot in other games, what it really means is, "im pissed off, im personally insulted, and im going to try and make ubi loose money. That'll show em! Disappoint me will they!"

Maybe so but perhaps that is out of his system and we are ready to get down to business on a resolve. The original thread has one individual with pictures of the issue. I believe we need some more and suspect we will see them in the coming days. I'm disappointed for those really looking forward to high resolution and it was not delivered as promised. I'm hoping the original poster with pics did not hit a option button or check a box in option to resolve the bad pictures.

Anyway, you got me sailing aroung Africa and I need to finish that patrol!

Yes, but GWX came 2 years after release.:rotfl:

I am buying this game too, but not in the current(?) state. I dont want to ruin the experience by being forced to overlook alot of stuff.

I am sure it will be mega-awesome after some modding, though.

Q: VikingGrandad: Are any of the existing SH4 preview screenshots and movies taken directly from the actual game, or are they enhanced/CGI?
A: SH4 uses post processing for a cinematic feeling, and that uninformed viewer may think at first those screenshots are edited. The game looks indeed as good, though of course all screenshots and footage released are work in progress.

Yes, two years but the GWX guys are on the ball. I think the modding will start immediately. We and they have seen what they can do. They now understand the make up of the config files and such. A lot testing and changing has already been completed in SH3 that will spill over to SH4. IMHO.

Interesting. I usually feel like you do about these sorts of things, but in this case...I'm afraid it's different.

This is by far the biggest lie I've ever seen a publisher make...EVER. I still can't believe it's true.

This is going to affect reviews, it's going to affect purchases, it's going to affect sales, etc. Ubisoft is going to be the laughing stock of the sim community. The reason you should care about this is that it could mean the end of the Silent Hunter series. So enjoy SH4...might be your last one.

Thats easy. Just realize that their's always pre release hype, and then there's hype WHEN (not if, but when) the game doesnt live up to the pre release hype. Also realize that when people are upset, they tend to exaggerate, embellish, and otherwise focus on that which has offended them; often overlooking much of everything else. This applies to just about every game out there.

I just want to say that for me, this isn't just about 'Widescreen' monitors, it's about higher resolutions period. I have a big LCD monitor, a Samsung 214t 22 incher and it's a 4:3 ratio monitor, not a 16:9 ratio Widescreen one. It's native resolution is 1600x1200.

Or perhaps I'm the only one here with a fairly large 4:3 ratio LCD! If I'm not, I don't want us guys to be forgotten!

To be fair you should purchase the game and then complain, wastegate ...

your just stirring things up for personal reasons that you evidently have left undisclosed ...

I've been a sub sim member since 1999 and never have I seen anyone start a thread like the one you just started about how everyone shouldn't purchase the game.

What's in it for you to make everyone angry ... you don't even come over here. You should go sit it out and think about it.

Well, that is the thing. We have one person with pics showing bad jaggie lines. We needs some more pics or just test the game ourselves. I do not have mine has yet but I'm getting it regardless of this issue. I hopeful some others will post a pic in high res that looks great.

clayton 03-19-07 08:19 PM

Sure, let the modders fix it! No need to give them a product that they can have fun and enjoy playing. Time to get to work...

To all those hardworking modders out there; Thank you for all you do. UBI should be paying you!

The Dev's should have hired the GWX guys!!! They'll be doing the work anyway!

Shame on the guys who knew about these bugs earlier...

I don't think it's reasonable to suggest that someone should purchase the game before drawing any conclusions. Buyer beware is the golden rule. Many people frequent these forums to get feedback before making a purchasing decision in the first place.

I think people should be well informed of the resolution problem because it appears that Ubisoft has quite deliberately mislead the community about this. This is so different than anything else I've ever seen before, it defies comprehension!

Arrowhead2k1 03-19-07 08:26 PM

Well I hope Ubi is hearing us and assembling some serious damage control teams, because this needs to be fixed!

Antrodemus 03-19-07 08:27 PM

Why is there such a dearth of screenshots from those who have the game?!? The whole community is going bananas trying to find out if their worst fears are true, and yet those who can prove or allay those fears seem strangely reluctant to help...

COME ON OWNERS OF SHIV!!! How hard can it be to start slappin' up some screens?!?
