That's a selling point for me, right there!

Plasma will give reflections and glare the same as a CRT, and I don't think you want that. Take a look at TVs sold that are LCD and Plasma and you'll see what I mean. LCDs use less electricty/power and give off practically no heat, unlike the CRTs. Nothing wose in the summer to have all that heat from a CRT build up to make your room into an oven...... which in turn affects cooling you computer tower.

And as said, you'll have more room on you desk for all that calculating you do with SHIII. :yep: ;)

Get a 19" as that will make it easier on your eyes. 17' and 15" LCDs I've seen seem to be trying to pull your eyeballs out of you head from the strain, more so the 15"s. Prices on 19"s have dropped a great deal in the last year, which is great.

If you can afford the extra 10 ro 20 quid get a widescreen they make playing silent hunter way much better:yep:

OMG I almost forgot I had a guy in my car today
who for all the world looked like he could have been
cloned from omara and even spoke about the same
but with an eastern canadian not an irish accent.
so I talk to the guy and hes a Corvette man we
talked a bit of ships and men for a few minutes
and parted ways. but wow not only to tt a
living corvette veteran but im not kidding
except for the 87 yrs old bit and the accent
he couldve been omara.:o weird but cool moment.

I have no idea how old this monitor is but it still works, so no point for me to upgrade to a lcd till this one bites the torpedo

I just recently bought a LCD display, the samsung syncmaster 226bw! I'm amazed at the difference, it's so bright and crisp and my CRT I replaced was only about a year old (samsung 997) which was very good and it still is but I saw the LCDs and went wow. I think a part of the image looking so much better is they have no glare, I dont know how or why but I see next to 0 glare on this thing and I have plenty of lights around that reflected off my old CRT, I dont see any of that on the LCD.

I say go for it, you wont be disappointed

After reading this thread I've decided to upgrade to a 19-inch LCD. Could you guys throw out some brand names that are better than others? I don't want to pick up a piece of junk.... Thanks! :)

danlisa 03-21-07 10:14 AM

Mush, make sure you go to the Canadian Heritage Museum too. They have the only flying Avor Lancaster in North America. She was at the Mid Atlantic Air Museum show last year and is one beautiful warbird. And for $2000.00 CDN you can even go for a ride. :yep: ;)

I just bought a 19" widescreen monitor too... but I have no idea how to correct the aspect ratio for SH3. Things look too stretchy width-wise.

What do I need to do to correct that?
