I tried using it via the commander method, no dice, will try the JSGME method now.

Neither worked, and I followed the installation instructions to the letter. :-?

@Penelope Grey

You should have ONE d/loaded .RAR file named "CobaltsVIIC.rar"

When you un-RAR this (WinRAR is the correct prog for that job!), you will find ONE folder named "CobaltsVIIC41".
Within that folder there is another folder called "CobaltsVIIC41", and inside that there are TWO subfolders and a "readme" pdf.

The subfolders are called "Submarine" and "Textures"

For the SH3 Commander method......

Place the Subfolders "Submarine" and "Textures" into the folder "SH3Commander/Uboat/VIIC41/data" folder (on your SH3Cmdr installation)

Check that there are now THREE subfolders in there (Roster, Submarine, Textures)

Now when you use SH3Cmdr to start up SH3, if you have a VIIC/41 selected during the correct war period, you will find Cobalt's VIIC/41 as your Uboat!!!

If you prefer the JSGME method......

Make a new folder named "CobaltsVIIC41" or whatever you like, and place it in your "Mods" folder (in your SH3 installation).
Make a new folder named "data" within.
Place the "Submarine" and "Textures" folders into your new "data" folder.
Activate your new "CobaltsVIIC41" Mod through JSGME in the usual way.

The included installation instructions provided by Cobalt work perfectly well!

Hope this helps!

Yeah but, I did that before, I put submarine and textures into the very place you said to put them and then when I launched SH3 and went to have a go at my fave single mission "Happy Times" the VIIC/41 U-boat I had was a clone VIIC.

I set it up in commander for the single mission, then mirrored it in the game itself and it didn't work.

So then I used JSGME to put it in and yet I still had a clone U-Boat rather than the one I see in the picture here.

Very nice work Cobalt, your persistence paid off big-time:up:

Honest to god, I'm not pulling anybody's leg here, I cannot get it to work at all.... :nope: (Via the commander method)

Though the JSGME method now works thankyou mountainmanUK:up:, what I did wrong before was not creating a 'data' folder to put the texture and submarine thing inside. Can't understand why the commander way doesn't work though.......

...a couple of thoughts.

Have you selected "Use historical uboat dates" in SH3Cmdr?

Are you sure you actually chose a VIIC/41 when you tried the "Happy Times" mission? (I just did that and the default choice is a VIIB)

I suggest you double-check your SH3Commander folders, to ensure that the file structure is correct. It's SO easy to accidentally drop something into the wrong folder, or to have an "extra" folder layer somewhere in there! (I do it myself all the time!:oops: )

If that doesn't work....goback to Step 1, and do everything over again SLOWLY, checking each step!

hope ya get there!!

Cheers
Dave

YAY!

Its operational now with commander. I showed the readme to Mikey and he did it for me, he also has copied it into his version of GWX too, so we are both well chuffed with cobalts VIIC/41 it looks amazing. :)

Aces! :)

Cobalt, or anyone else. What is the exact crush depth of the boat? Has anyone tried it, before I try it in a couple of hours.

EDIT:

If I understand this correctly. If I have this mod enabled via JSGME, even if I select a VIIC u-boat, I will get VIIC-41 from Cobalt? Am I right or wrong?

It`s a great mod btw. :D

you're correct, but if you don't use commander, you won't get a deeper crushdepth.

@Duli,

I just ran a crush-depth test myself.....

Popping bulbs and slight pipe leaks = 326 metres
Crushed = 423 metres

That was during a Full Speed continuous dive from surfaced until "dead"!!:o

Hope this helps!

cheers
Dave
