I think it may just be the balao's default skin:

Her is a new screenshot as an appetizer. ;)

Is that an in-game shot or artwork? If it's an in-game shot that would mean we could take command of a sub that's been build at the east coast and sail to our home base. Wouldn't it be neat if we could do such a shake down cruise?

Judging by the edge line roughness and jagged edges on the sub, statue and background: I'd say it's a screenshot (AA/AF is obviously off).

I hope you're right because visiting or even better: starting from New York would be awesome!:D:yep:

I like it the most because it means that not only the Pacific is getting attention. Splendid.

Oh, no, I didn't mean that, I was talking about the water!

Look carefully, I think the angled rays might be part of the new shader...

flintlock 02-18-07 05:55 PM

Ah, OK.

When I look closely, it does appear as though there light rays coming in at an angle. Difficult to be certain without a higher res image. Agree that it's a cool feature if that's what we're in fact seeing.

Outstanding shots!! Now I'm getting real anxious for this sim. I DO hope you can rig in bow planes, though.

Here's some some juicy shots from the press-event in Hamburg courtesy of marinesims:

That all looks amaizing......

Just a shame that list of subs didnt have the Tench class in :-?
Apart from that though its all looking top notch

Note the darker areas up ahead. It looks like clouds casting shadows on the water. Alternatively it could be some sort of reef.

Graphics are very impressive. I'm very pleased with the interior visuals, like the conning tower ones. I hope the animations look lifelike as well (were a bit stiff in SH3).

And those NY pictures :O great, gives me a reason not to TC so much. Wonder if other harbours have the same stuff.

Btw, imagine a mod where you have german subs (operation drumbeat) sneaking around harbours and sights like that on the east coast.

From the AOTD and Marinesims guys that went to Hamburg:

I don't like this overall Hollywood movie look of all screenshots I have seen so far.
All screens looked to dark, I traveled many years on merchant ships in the Atlantik and Indic Ocean and knows well how it looks like at sea in different weather condition but none SHIV screenshots I seen reflect the real looking.

I hope this is an effect by the post process filters and can be switched off, personaly I want a simulation not a David Hamilton movie.

stabiz 02-19-07 08:18 AM

I bet my hat that one (Statue of Liberty) is ingame. No point in relasing art-screens with no antialiasing. (Strange to show screens without AA anyway?:hmm:)
