Dutch Harbor is an island 'port' about third of the way out on the Aleutian Island chain, that extends to the SouthWest from the main body of the State of Alaska. It is a very barren chain of islands. Dutch Harbor is near the main North/South passage between the Pacific Ocean and the Bering Sea to the North. Primarily a somewhat protected 'bay' in which Crab Processing Ships anchor. The most memorable thing about the Aleutians is that there is a beautiful, willing girl behind every tree....

An interesting bit of trivia is the Dutch Harbor is the only other land in North America that was bombed by the Japanese during WWII, besides Pearl Harbor of course.

Don't forget Attu [tip of the chain] was occupied by the Japs until we landed and after a pretty bloody fight, ran them out. Kiska and Amchitka were also bombed by the Japanese. Suggestion : 'The Thousand Mile War'... by Bob Reeve [founder of Reeve Aleution Airways]. I have a grave marker flag from Attu.
