This probably was not included as part of the game because there is no game benefit to flooding your tubes only. Yes, that was necessary prior to opening the tube caps and outer doors, but I'm guessing that the developers looked at the 'Q' key as a combined 'flood-tube-then-open-door' scenario. Possibly also why there is a small delay for the door to open: a few seconds are needed to flood the tube before opening the outer door.

That's correct. Back when the game first came out, there was a comment from one of the devs, in an article or forum post, that said the "Q" command was a combination of flooding the tubes and opening the doors. Unfortunately, this was a long time back and I have no idea where I saw it.

As far as I know in RL it goes: preshurising, flooding and then opening the muzzle doors.

It would be neat but just an extra step we do not need in the heat of battle!!!!

Why can't the sound of tubes flooding be modded to the tube selection in the TDC screen. That way, select tube - it floods, Press Q - Doors open.:hmm:

Any bright modder out there.:D

Flood tube, then open outer doors.

At least that is the way it is done in "todays" sub force. Tubes are flooded first to equalize tube to outside pressure. Then the outter along with the barn doors (the ones that keep the hull arrow dynamic are opened. And just another tid bit, there's an interlock mechanizim that prevents the inner (inside the sub) tube door from opening when the outer door is open. torpedo is then shot with impulse of HP air.

We _absolutely_ don't want that, as you're going to realize soon, I think. :) Always after loading my game every evening one of the first things I do is readjusting torpedo settings: switching to 3 metres, impact pistol, fast speed (if steam one) (unfortunately these settings are not stored in save files). If all the torpedoes where flooded while doing this, I'd have to fill the tubes with air again after adjusting, and that would consume quite a large part of my compressed air storage. Then I'd be forced to stay on surface for much longer time to refill it. I do a recheck of my torpedo settings also when approaching a convoy, to make sure I set them properly, and I redo it again after reloading any of my six torpedoes... Flooding all of them every time I do the check would be a pain in tube... :)

Perhaps modern submarines do.
