2) The 1.4b patch is cumulative. So no, just the 1.4b patch is sufficient.

3) Yes, there is validity for this. When you TC (say abouve 256x, but dependant on your system), the game will not spawn aircraft/ships as often as if you were at lower TC settings. Also, when you detect a ship, it will probably be much closer than if you had lower TC settings. This is esp important later in the war when enemy aircraft are everywhere.

My friend, that information should be in the manual or some jazz.
Would have saved me the aggrivation of loosing 3 days of a saved patrol, D@mn it.
I had serious tonnage worked up, including 2 c3's a c2, a costal, a destroyer plus 1 aircraft. Now Im near a harbor with two merchants, one destroyer close by and I'm Submerged, but its late and I got work in the am. So I go to save and exit - right.
I've saved submerged before, but this time .. POW Blue screened even. Lost the whole patrol.

I always stay in the patrol area, since the so-called "mission" is a hold-over from the early stages when they were planning on a not-so-dynamic campaign. A lot of players talk about moving on the the better hunting grounds, but it's my belief that that is why they get much higher than real-life scores.

But - are you saying that they almost always were in move? If so, I'll have to change the tactics... I'd like it to be as real, as it's possible. :|
I don't know for sure, but none of the ones who wrote about it ever mentioned stopping and sitting. They also don't mention being in constant motion, but I think the sitting part would be more unusual, and more likely to get talked about if they did it.
