Serious; I have respect for those who are into sailing, There is something about travelling on natures premises, without the use of an engine.. Hey, even "der Alte" in "Das boot" liked sailing ships!!:up::up::up:

Officers and Kaleuns pretty much had to like sailing boats, or at least have had some exposure to them. In the years before the war, German Seekadetts spent time on a sailing ship as part of their training before graduating the Naval Academy.

(This Sailor Steve historical fact brought to you by the 2nd glass of Merlot I've had this evening. :know:)

I was happy to visit both the Sagres and Gorch Fock as they made regular stops in port at my home town.;) I even took pics at sea one day I was sailing.
Also had the chance to visit most european school ships - Winston Churchill, Malcolm Miller (GB) Etoile, Belle Poule (France) Amerigo Vespucci (Italy) 4 mast Kreuzenstern (Russia) Nice souvenirs...

Just a little fact...: For those who have read the tribute to safe-keeper post, you would know that the city i live in, Harstad, has the largest WWII land-based cannons, "the Adolf cannons".
We also have the worlds oldest sailing schooner named "Anna Rogde". here is a pic:

Here is a quote from http://www.olavsrosa.no/en/objektinfo.aspx?id=27522

Description:
The Anna Rogde is the world's oldest sailing schooner. She was built by Bangsund Shipyard in Namsos, and was launched on 20 August 1868. Captain Isak Rogde of Hardanger bought the ship, which was then named the Anna af Bergen, in 1872. The schooner was renamed Anna Rogde when Isak married Anna from Kjøtta, near Harstad. For a hundred years, three generations of the Rogde family used the boat to haul freight along the coast of Norway and abroad. The fastmoving schooner could transport goods that spoilt quickly, such as tea, fruit and fish, from Archangelsk in the northeast to Portugal in the south. The Anna Rogde, also called "Norway's Sailing Queen" and "the Ruby of Northern Norwegian Coastal Culture", was the last Norwegian sailing ship that was taken out of active service when she was decommissioned in 1972. After being restored in southern Norway, she was sold and returned to Harstad in 1990. Today the boat is moored at the Harstad Arts Centre quay, and the venerable old schooner takes guests for short fjord trips, fishing trips, pirate cruises, company cruises and wedding cruises, as well as longer trips to Lofoten, killer whale safaris and pure sailing trips along the coast of Norway. The boat can carry up to 70 day passengers, and has overnight accommodation for 30. The schooner is run by The Foundation Anna Rogde.
Sorry to hijack, but im proud of this, you know...

Ahh -- back to torpedoing a schooner for a minute, actually it was just a trawler I think. Anyhow I fished one - and it was at night out on a first patrol. Never did find out what happened to it. K log reported nothing even once I got back to base.
Spent two hours tracking the little snot, must have spring boarded him ashore.

Back when the game was new someone created a nuclear super torpedo and made HMS Rodney fly through the air like that.
